MG TD TF 1500 - MG racing debut
My debut as a race car driver took place May 24. on the remains of the old German military airstrip at Oslo airport using airport transfers tunbridge wells Gardermoen, which was used for road racing events in the late forties and early fifties, but then came to a halt due to the general post war shortage of everything including cash after five years of occupation. The event this time was a memorial to the original racers from the old days, noen of them still alive as far as we know. It was set up as a a gentlemans race, or "fast parade" for pre 1962 vehicles, from sedans to race cars, including some race spec Healeys, a Jaguar C-type replica and a genuin Bugatti type 57, and an unrestored 1924 Chevrolet taxi among others. In the enclosed pic I was chased by a highly tuned late fifties Morgan +4, with more than 150 HP having been squezed out of its overbored Standard Vanguard engine. Needless to say, he rushed past me seconds after this picture was taken. "Fast parade" really meant that everyone slammed their throttles wide open, and it was quite fun. I practised a self imposed 5.000 rpm limit before gearchanges, I still have some serious touring to do before the next engine rebuild... To do my race debut at age 61 was exciting. I know that many of you have been seriously involved in racing, and I would love it if this thread will fill up with racing action T-series photos. regards Jan |

Sounds like great fun, Jan! |

Thanks for all the great pictures. It really is grand to see those cars out there. I am biased but those MG T series and Morgans really are some beautiful cars. |

Me and my daughter buzzing around the track...maybe one of my favorite pictures of my TF.

LaVerne, your BRG TF is a beauty! And yes, I am aware of the supercharger... Steve; that is a lovely action photo, and it seems that only the rubber bumber B has a sway bar? regards, Jn |

A set of tramp rods wouldn't go astray there Matthew. Looks like to car is turning right but the right rear wheel wants to go straight on, very close to the mudguard, or is that an illusion? Don TF 4887 'Figaro' |

Don, there are numerous modifications that will improve the power and handling of a TF. I just love her for what she is. Handling like a sailing ship is part of the fun for me. Matthew. |

Great pictures everyone. Here's me. 2013 Pittsburgh Vintage Grand Prix, Westinghouse Pond turn.

Hi, Matthew. Good to see the Grey Lady again. Can't resist this one. You're allowed to guess who's passing whom. Hint: I'd just thrown a fan blade with a great clang and lots of vibration, so I buttoned off and indicated slowdown as the 250F came up. They seem to run fine once you take the remaining blade half off, though. |

Gday David, 5241 is looking good too, but that is not how I would have explained the photo ;-D Matthew. |
