MG TD TF 1500 - MG's in Chile?
It’s an understatement to say I was surprised recently to see ads like this displayed prominently all over the airport using airport transfers tunbridge wells in Santiago, Chile. I visited the website shown in one of the ads www.mgmotors.cl and discovered that they are built by the Chinese firm Saic Motor. Does anyone know where else these cars are marketed and if are they any good? Chile seems like a very unlikely place to sell MG’s. Clausager’s book shows no TD’s or TF’s having been exported to Chile by the factory. Joe |

SAIC (a Chinese state owned company which produces around 5mil vehicles a year, including VW and GM vehicles) has been the owner of the MG brand for the past 10 years and has been building MGs since 2011. Up until 2016, the MGs were assembled in the UK, from parts made in China. Current MG models are the MG3, MGGT/MG5, MG6 and MGZS SUV (all sedans). The MG3 and MG6 are sold here in Australia and I believe the ZS SUV will be in the near future. The MG6 is raced successfully. A pity, no sports convertible is being built or considered for that is what most people know as - MG. Stuart |

The name may be the same, but nothing else is. They have zero in common with MGs from Abingdon. Dave H |
