MG TD TF 1500 - MGTF 1800

There is a car on ebay that is called a mgtf 1800. What is this car? Is it a kit car? He says that it was made by Victor Motor Coach Co. Who are these oriole and where are they?

The TF1800 was s fiberglas reproduction MG TF using an MGB suspension and mechanicals. I say reproduction and not kit car because the quality was way better than a kit car. The chrome and body panels were dimensionally correct, and interchangeable with a TF. The plant was in western New York, not too far of the throughway. I toured the factory sometime in the 1980s
In my opinion the car had two major flaws. The hood was hinged at the firewall and both top pieces were one piece, no hinge at the chrome strip, and the dashboard made no attempt whatsoever to replicate the original. It looked similar to the plywood dash of a typical kit car.

I have been corasponding with the owner and asked a few questions about it including:
How it is "titled", what transmission, bonnet badge (1500/1800). Quite a nice fellow.

I was curious because years ago I bid on a TF that had a Volvo 1800, disc brakes, 5 speed, and was fiberglass. I did not go thru with that deal as it had been advertized as an "all orginial" car. (I think it may have been one of these that somebody replaced the drivetrain with that of a P1800. It did have a "TF1800" badge on the bonnet...this looks like "where" that must have come from.)

Here is part of the conversation/answers:

"Morris Garage MG sanctioned TF1500/1800
This car is steel and glass body on a full steel box frame. It is all MG running gear with a MG 1800 motor.
MG sanctioned Victor motors in the design and construction. The result is a more durable construction a more reliable electric system and quicker better handling touring auto.

IMHO:(I have done some looking on WWW)
Definitly not like the "VW based" kits but a high $ limited factory recreation using an MGB drivetrain. I believe there were fewer of these made than the Naylor cars. Not my "cup of tea", more of a special intrest unit. (Like some of the Cobras out there)
I'd love to drive one for a comparison.

Quite a few "liberties" taken.
Look at the wiring under bonnet.
Must have a modern ing switch as I don't see one in there, alternator, and where is the flasher for turn signals. Font on the vin plates looks a little "too nice".

There is a Victor TF at the GOF Central. Unbelievably accurate. Most could not tell that it wasn't a TF. TF parts will even fit. It is mostly fiberglass though. The fellow is honest and entered it as a TF replica.

I have a fair amount of documentation on this Rochester-built TF1800, and I will be happy to share it with anybody that e-mails me.

The improved chassis were made from scratch. The all-up weight including liquids, was 1,650 pounds with a 95 HP MGB engine.

They were quick and looked almost original, except for a somewhat cobbled-up dash.

$16,000 would get you an assembled and running car, but kits were available c/w mnuals, etc. I believe about 100 completed cars were made
