MG TD TF 1500 - MGTF Carb Bowl top aluminium tags
Hi All, Does anyone have a sample of the aluminium stamped tag which may be located under the brass hex head setscrew located on top of the carby bowl lids ? I have not seen them on TF carbs however some believe originally they were fitted at the Factory. Cheers Rob Grantham |

Rob, Burlen fuel systems have them. http://sucarb.co.uk/specification-tag-h-hd-type-carburettor.html They will also stamp them to your requirement. They will fit in a small envelope so Postage to OZ should not be too much. John |

Thankyou to William and John for your response to my query on the carby bowl tag. Now the next move will be to try and establish which letters/numbers were designated to the TF carbs if there was a specific code. Cheers Rob Grantham TF3719("Aramis"),TF9177("Athos"). |

AUC728 - I believe |

FTFU states William is correct for the TF. The TD is AUC 549.

This does assume the carbs and all their parts are correct to original, which you can check from the part numbers on the various parts of the carbs. I've seen, or heard about, very few carbs but have still seen a few examples of mix and match, or mismatch. I don't mean to 'throw a spanner in' just it would be a good time to check if you're going to the bother of getting stamped tags. |

I had a look at TFs on The Original mgtf midget site and could not see any tag on a carby bowl lid. Of course, the tags could have been discarded when over time any work on the carbs had been done. Cheers Rob Grantham |

These tags could be just like the voltage regulator card. Most did not come with them is my guess. I survived for 50 years without mine and in the end I don't think it changed anything when I put them on. :-) |
