MG TD TF 1500 - More ebay fun!
Not an M.G. Ok ..it's not an M.G. ..but it's not a TR7 either! I spoke with this lady (a very nice person)..it's a shame the way people are abusing her in the "questions part" of her listing. She got it as part of an estate and just does not know what she has. I believe she is going to send me some more pic's so I can help her out a bit. I think she raised the price after somebody told her this was a rare Jag. I told her I would help her sort it out and have no intrest in purchase. Anybody besides me think this looks like a 66/67 Triumph GT6? http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=6531166590&rd=1&sspagename=STRK%3AMEWA%3AIT&rd=1 Cheers, David 55 TF1500 #7427 |

Dave, That's a Triumph GT6. Gord Clark Rockburn, Qué. |

Hi, David - This is so sad, and gives all British Car Enthusiasts a bad name. I've sent her the truth, and a blanket apology, but she may have her head up in the stratosphere so far she can't hear us down here on the ground. Yes, it is a simple GT6 Mk1, and there were over 15,800 made of this model alone. With the glass OUT of it, and the weather IN it, I couldn't guess what it's worth, but I'm thinking sub-$1000 or thereabouts. I'm not even tempted - - Alec |

Better warn her of the Nigerian or wherever scams, too. She could lose a hell of a lot if she falls for that "We'll send you a big check and you send us the difference" thing. She might be thinking she's actually getting the $12K. This car will never bring over $1K. |

any body know anything about the guy who told her it is an early jag? if he runs a restoration shop specializing in early british cars and can't tell the difference...yikes! tom |

Fully agree with you Tom !!! Apparently Mr Ed Blake of "British Car Restorations Inc." knows what he's talking about !!! Hmmm. I think I would send him an e-mail that there is indeed a six cylinder under the bonnet and he's allowed to buy this "Coventry made car" for "only" $12000..... There is one lesson I've learned in many years of classic car ownership: beware of people who like to call themself "specialist".... The comments in the "question part" of her ad are indeed a disgrace to our hobby ! Nick, 52TD/63midget. |

The good news is that I do believe she is learning not all LBC owners are idiots or rip-off artist....but she is moving the car. She is going to send me some more pics and I will direct her to Heritage Trust and some other good sites so she can know what she has. I tried to do a search for "Mr Ed Blake of "British Car Restorations Inc" and came up with nothing. Too bad...I have a "rare 4/WD Bently staion wagon" he might be intrested in...uh, some people think it looks like an 87 AMC Eagle! :-o !...it also has the "in-line 6" instead of that everyday run of the mill 12cyc engine! I also have allerted her to the old "send my transporter w/MO for car but you need to give him back cash" scam that has been making the ebay scene as of late. Cheers, David |

Maybe you should throw in one of your ebay CDs with the Bentley. ;^) |
