MG TD TF 1500 - Moss Chrome Headlights
My chrome headlight buckets are pretty beat up and I would guess will cost $1000 plus to have repaired. Moss has their re-pops on sale right now and I was wondering if anyone had purchased these and what the quality was. Thanks, Rich |

I bought the reproduced light buckets and have them on my '50TD. The originals were in bad shape and I am trying to source some replacements. The Moss replacement KOR light pots are different than the originals. The thing that sticks out the most.... literally and figuratively.. are the KOR emblems. They sit on top of the bucket, so sit proud... They look like someone soldered quarters on the bucket. The emblem is also very sharp and defined as to the original. They are expensive for what they are. For the price I always wonder why Moss would not have the KOR recessed as in the original. All in all... they are not cracked , loose, and they are "shiny". They will do until I find some originals. I bought them when they were on sale as well. |

Lew Palmer found a set for me in England some years ago. He may know where to find them. |

Thanks Jim, that sounds like a really good price. Did your buckets need any metal work? Mine are pretty beat up from being hit with the engine bonnet I would guess. Thanks, Rich |

I went with chrome because I got a brand new one in the Moss box when I got the car. I used the same part number but they are not indenticle. The screw location is on the rim on one and the other is on the bucket. The build is a little different as well. Lastly the chrome is actually a little better on the new one. The old one has a slightly yellowish cast to the chrome and the new one has a bluish cast. Way to expensive in my book.

Jim, looks like Artistic metal is closed and has their web site domain for sale. http://www.artisticmetalfinishing.com/ I will see how reasonably priced aihchrome is. My dash components were finished by Custom Chrome and though a little pricey they do great work. Thanks for all the suggestions, Rich |

I got a pair for Tom Maine a few years ago. $300 for the pair, as I recall. They came from a vendor in England who, unfortunately, doesn't do them anymore. |
