MG TD TF 1500 - moss upholstery kit front panels
The front quarter panel is mounted on a board - ie covered with vinyl but does not fit. The main problem is the stabilising bar which this board will not bend around. I thought about peeling off the vinyl and scoring it to bend it. I have also thought about cutting the board back to the bar and simply gluieing the vinyl to the bar. Any suggestions welcome please. Just did mine per the instructions on TTalk. Come out good. Had a few small wrinkles in the crease (I may have soaked the backboard too much). Fits very nice. Mike |

Is there a template available to make the bare panels? I have the shop to do so if I can get a diagram. Are the right and left panels the same other than the bow around the bar? My car has none, lost sometime in it's past. PJ |

I have my Moss panels uninstalled and not bent, still flat. If anyone needs a template & pic lemme know. Best regards, Daniel |

I love this BBS. Learn something new every day. When I got this car the panels were behind the roll bar so I assumed that's where they belong. The PO got me again. Anyone see anything negative about this install? It is a bear to get in and out but I have done it a few times. I have one out now in expectation of putting in the suicide door locks. I can not convert to the other "correct" installation since the panels have a very dark black line on them from sitting behind the roll bar. |

A pic of the kick panel in my TF. This is the factory rexine on the factory board. The rexine has shrunk and pulled away from the folds a little. Matthew. |

Matthew, what is that tag in the center of the kick panel? -David |

Mort, You are not the first to fall for that "PO trick". My TF is the same way. "Anyone see anything negative about this install?" How about something a bit "positive"? A slight increase in leg-room. A good place to hang a fire extinguisher. Cheers. |

Hi Peter I followed the instruction in ttalk but the measurements given are from the front of the panel. I left the damp towels on overnight. The first bend was easy but when I tried to do the hard creases either side of the bend without a V brake I got some bubbles in the vinyl which looked amaturish. I finished up soaking the panel again overnight and removed part of vinyl from the panel. I let the cardboard dry and then glued the vinly back down with contact cement. The final result was very good. Three photos follow of the bubbled panel, vinyl stripped back and final result.

David Sander: The little brass tag is the dealers plate for Lanes Motors who were the MG importers for the states of Victoria and Tasmania down here. They are induvidually numbered. Matthew. |
