MG TD TF 1500 - Moss Valve Covers
Why are the Moss aluminum valve covers the same for the TC & TF and a separate one for the TD? The questions meaning is; How are the TC & TFs heads alike, compared to the TD? Does that make any sense? PJ |

The TD cover has has a different vent on the top for a hose to the air filter. Dallas |

My TF air filter has a vent pipe on it but the alum valve cover does not. Last evening I pulled out the dipstick with the eng running and oil shot out of the dipstick hole. Should I install a breather tube between the two or is this normal ? I also have an alum side cover which does have a breather on it. |

Bill, I would say your crankcase isn't breathing properly and possibly it's because the enclosed valve cover. My TF has a vent pipe on the valve cover that hooks up to a breather on the front carb with a short hose. PJ |

PJ The TF should have a metal pipe with a slight bend in it. There is a short piece of hose used at each end to connect to the front air cleaner and a fitting on the valve cover. Four hose clamps are required to keep everything from coming apart. I put a fitting on my aluminum valve cover to connect this all up. It has worked well for about 5 years. Cheers, Bob |
