MG TD TF 1500 - Moss Wiring Harness Question.

Anyone know if the Moss wiring harness comes with the wires labeled? It would make it a little easier when the time comes to install it. Are the ends pre-installed or do they come separately? Just curious. PJ

Most all of the ends are installed. You may need to change a couple under the dash, and will have to cut some of the bare wire ends to length. No need to label- use the wiring diagram and color codes. You could label yourself of course, but not really needed.

Thanks George! The last one I rewired was an MGB and had no trouble at all, but saying that, it is a pain in the neck job. (Literally, under the dash), but this car seems like it will be somewhat easier. Hopefully. PJ

When wiring the dash panel I leave it free from the car. Lay it backwards on a pad on the steering column. It is easier with the wheel removed.
This way all is out in the open and no need to lay down and peek up behind the panel.

Paul,

You've done an MGB, you're more than capable of doing a TD. Just a couple of reminders for years of trouble free motoring:
Tin all the ends of the bare wire that go under grub screw terminals.
Don't be afraid to really tighten the grub screws.
Install the regulator wires, and then snip each to length after you rearange them to suit, resolder the wire ends, and reattach. You will end up with a neater installation.
Assemble everything with dielectric grease.
Contact Dave DuBois for his brake light relay. It mounts by the brake switch and will greatly extend the life of the brake switch contacts.
Test your harness with a battery charger (low current) after installation to avoid a costly mistake, or alternatively, with a 20 amp fuse between the battery and the main battery hookup. May not survive testing the horns though.
Remember the return ground for the fuel sender is the fuel line- no rubber hose repairs allowed, or you need to ground the case separetly to the chassis.
Remember the ground between the gearbox/engine and chassis at the LH side A-tower attach bolts.

Have fun!

warmly,
