MG TD TF 1500 - My TD on cool rides online - please vote

Hello everyone,

Since winter is suddenly upon us here in Northern NJ, I decided to spend some time (indoors) entering my TD in a competition on Cool Rides Online.

My TD was selected as a semi-finalist by the panel at Cool Rides and is now competing against a few "garden variety" automobiles.

The final selection will be made by a popular choice using a public vote at:

http://www.goldeagle.com/event_marketing/coolridesonline.aspx

In casting their vote, I hope the T Series community will be partial to my TD.

Please note that you can vote once every day through the month of November if you are so inclined (or just plain bored).

Thank you,
RT
R Thadani

RT,
I don't know man ...that "tixdy-1'~cheby" is pretty dope!

Just voted again RT, once at work and once at home so as long as you use a different computer you can vote as many times a day as you want; your at 42.22 now, who says a TD can't whoop a Chevelle:)
Richard Taylor TD3983

That's great everyone! I am so humbled by your support.

Yes, you can vote once a day from each computer.

I gotta say, the MGT community is really tight (and proud). We have "car egos" that are inversely proportional to the size of our LBCs.

Many thanks!

BTW ..I have been voting every day.

If those jumps of .04% were each the result of a single additional vote, we have enough data to solve the question of 'how many votes have been cast?'. The answer would be about 1449'ish. Out of those, the number cast for the TD would be about 756. Rounding uncertainties make it tough to be precise. Bud

M=total cast
N=cast for TD
N/M=.5219
N/M-(N-1)/(M-1)= .5219-.5215 (difference from 1 vote)
substitute (N=M*.5219), solve for M:
M=.4785/.0004=1449

But, then again, I could be way off. But, I'll be glad when next Thursday comes and this thread will be over.

Mike's .02% delta would lead to a total of about 2375 votes, of which about 1246 would be for the TD. It's probably somewhere between the .02% and .03% figures.
I'll bet there are some Detroit Iron fans scratching their heads trying to figure where these foreign fans are coming from. I wonder what a typical month's data looks like. Bud

52.59 this morning,

and Raj - and we definitely want to know what the prize is that you should have secured by now !

I think this is also a great lesson in viral marketing (not so much for goldeagle since I only just realized I might actually look on their website what it is they offer, but for your TD!!)

3 days to go and we´re most likely to hit the 300 on this thread as well.

Hello Everyone,

With both humility and pride I am pleased to confirm that WE won! Humility because I didn’t do sh#t to win this. Pride because I belong to a group of people that hold our marquee in very high regard.

***Quick summary:
It is official that we won and we ought to take a victory lap together. I feel like this competition took a course of its own based on this BBS and my Facebook community.

Here is a link from the website confirming the ride of the month:

http://forums.coolridesonline.net/album.php?albumid=316

I have not received any other communication from them yet.

***Detailed report (for those who wish to read on and get bored):
The background - I discovered this competition while speaking with someone from Gold Eagle about give-aways for a local car show that I am involved in. They asked me to submit my car to their Cool Rides competition website. In October, I received an email from Cool Rides letting me know that I was one of five cars selected. As the other cars were of a “Garden Variety” as compared to my TD (in my humble opinion), I quickly posted details on this BBS and my Facebook page.

The support has been global, awesome, amazing and at times comical. My wife thinks we are all from another planet, although she found many of your comments “cute!”

I soon realized that I was more interested in THIS thread than the competition itself. The competition has a lot less meaning to me than this thread. I am just simply struck by our community. Right from the day I acquired my car, the folks on this BBS have been of tremendous help. I have not been able to find anything like this for the other cars I own/have owned. And I worry for future generations of newer classic car enthusiasts, who will surely miss out on this support.

As for the winnings – this was mostly for fun with a small reward. As part of being selected as the initial five, I received a $100 worth of Gold Eagle merchandise. Some of it like SAT-BIL is very useful and other stuff like FIX-A-FLAT that I will not use. For the Grand Prize as being selected as the ride of the month - I will receive a plaque, a t-shirt and a hat.

As soon as I receive the plaque, I will post a picture on this thread.

A print out of this thread will be added to the provenance of the automobile.

For those who would like something to continue to go along with their morning coffees, perhaps we can think of another cause that we can lend our support to...

Finally, I would like to extend a warm welcome to anyone from our community who find themselves in the NY/NJ area to visit the TD and/or me. A cold beer will be waiting...

Sincerely,
Raj Thadani

R Thadani

Force of habit (coffee hadn't kicked in yet), went to the site. That 1934 Plymouth looks a lot like a TD!
David Sheward

Thanks for the note, Raj. What a hoot to read that this thread will be added to the provenance. Certainly a unique situation for a car!

Hooray!

Further update (Bud):
The folks at Cool Rides informed me that the total number of votes in November were around 2500. It was a good month for them.
R Thadani

Hello Everyone,

So the trophy arrived and I have uploaded a picture. It was proudly displayed in a prominent place trough the Holidays. The story of the support from this community was told many times. Thanks to everyone for their support.

Now here is the kicker. I received this email last week:

Hi 1952MGTD,

This year's contest will be between the 12 Ride of the Month winners in 2011. The prizes will be announced when the voting opens.

With the contest starting in less than a week, I thought I'd share a few fun facts about this year's contest!

You can read them and comment here: http://forums.coolridesonline.net/showthread.php?t=1959

Have a great weekend!

So the million $$ question is should we attempt the big one?? Should the TD go for the 2011 vote?

I am sure I can hear some groans...

Let me know what you think, is anyone in the mood to start this voting thing all over again and can the TD compete against the Chevys? I would hate to impose again on this wonderful community.

The competition runs until Feb 19, 2012. It has already begun.

To vote for the TD please click on this link:
