MG TD TF 1500 - Need Help with Fuel Pump rebuild

My TD has not run for 45 years.
I am getting ready to start it after a complete rebuild that took place 25 years ago.
I found the fuel pump to be non operatable. The diaphragm was not only stiff the shaft was frozen in place.
I replaced that and the pump ran fine on the battery charger.
I had also purchased a new set of contacts so, feeling more competent I decided to change those.
I purchased the contacts from Abingdon their part # 35/26. they were made by intermotor and carry a part number (barcode) 5012225112760.
They are somewhat different from the ones I took out.
First the inside part that rides on the hardened steel pin, the one that the WSM cautions you not to change, was tight on the Bakealite supports. The old one measured 0.360". The new one measured 0.365". I carefully filed the part to fit.
The new ones also have an appendage that the old one does not have. (See picture attached. The prevents the contacts form BOTH opening and snapping over.

(For once I took some before pictures.)

I can put the old ones back or continue to work with the new ones. Sending it to Dave DeBois is also an option but that was to be in the future.

I could remove the appendage or perhaps there is an adjustment by bending it.
Can anyone give me some insight into what to do next.

With the help of Dave DuBois the SU pump is running again. After all these years. Soon the motor will run also.
