MG TD TF 1500 - Need Rad shell info-photos
I have a very nice shell which needs a re-chrome. Problem is some of the fixing bolts which are/were soldered into the back are missing and a few others are bent. I'd like to know the following so I can fix them before sending off to the plater. How many fixing points are there supposed to be? What should the spacing be for instance center of bolt to center going from right to left from the top? A photo of the backside of a bare shell might help. Thanks for any help with this strange request. |

Brian - If you have the grill that will be used with the shell, you can put it in place on the fixing bolts that are in place and mark the places where new ones need to go. Cheers - Dave |

Thanks Dave....duh, you know that was so intuitive that I didn't even think of it! :-) At present, I don't have the insert but perhaps I need to adjust my order of things and save the plater for later. Get the insert first! Thanks for a pretty great suggestion! Also, I have one of your older (like 4-5 year old fuel pump conversions which you did for me that I have never installed...you did it for me with neg ground. Would I have to send it back to you for a conversion to pos. ground? Thanks, Brian |

Brian, here are some photos of a spare I have for reference when you get the insert. There are 10 studs to fasten the grill. Hard to see at first, but you cam make out the small nuts on the studs. Dallas |

Brian, you really need to be carefull about the spacing...if you have to force the studs even a little bit, they break off easily. I would definitely wait to get the grill. There are many aftermarket grills out there and some of them are a little different. |

Thank you all, particularly Dave DuBois and Dallas - the photos are awesome! I believe I will get the insert first and go from there. Last thing will be the plater. Cheers! |
