MG TD TF 1500 - Need source for resleeved/rebuilt Master Cylinder

All,
I am in California, and my master cylinder failed, and is pitted. I would prefer to get a resleeved/rebuilt master cylinder if someone sells them off the shelf, or with a core deposit, to paying a lot of money for an aftermarket unit of unknown provenance or reliability.

My mechanic says that he doesn't know anyone that can resleeve it locally, and it would take a while to get it done.

Anyone know of such a source?

thanks,
Larry Ayres

I used these folks to do my master cylinders and all the slaves. I was very pleased with the result and the turnaround time:

I doubt you'll find someone that keeps them on a shelf.

Apple Hydraulics does them, too, but I would stay away from them.

He sleeves in stainless, which is great.

I've used these guys for shocks, kingpins and cylinders in the past. They were pretty reasonable and did nice work. http://applehydraulics.com/index.htm

White Post will sleeve and rebuild with a "lifetime guarantee", cost used to be about what the repro cylinder was. Mine came with a serious dust boot that will really keep stuff out of it. George

Please tell him I sent you.
He well known to all on the TABC list.

Len Fanelli

Len - with Phil's failing eyesight I don't think he is doing this any more. He may have an exchange unit around, though, so it's worth checking. Butch Taras took over most of his tooling, and continues to supply various of Phil's excellent parts.

Apple Hydraulics did fine for me. Mike

Tom is correct about Phil Marino but Joe at http://brakecylinder.com/ does excellent work...I just had him do sleeves on a TC M/C and all the brake cyls for the TC and two for the TA ... he is in Quincy, CA
Terry Sanders

Moss Motors has them on the shelf.

Phil is retired and no longer does any work. As noted, Butch Taras has taken over his work.
