MG TD TF 1500 - new Master Cylinder
It's been 38 years since I had to replace the master cylinder on our TD,,now it is leaking internally, so I have to replace it,, Reading the WSM, it looks like I won't get any leaks after I bench bleed it,,, it seems like the two valve cups will keep the fluid in as I bolt it to the chassis,, right ? Yes, the foot valve will hold the fluid as you refit it. I leave the pipe connection loose and push some fluid out before tightening. It all helps. Ray TF 2884 |

Steve, Don't know what you're getting in the US in the way of rebuild kits, But I bought a couple of kits a few years ago from the LBCC and found the valve body - the "hat-looking" device (part #10 on plate 'D' in the MG parts manual), is now plastic. I'm very leery of plastic in brake lines, as I have no idea what today's brake fluids will do to them. Our local guy had some originals, and I rebuilt my spare M/C with that. the installation went easy,, now I'm just waiting for Annie to have time to help to bleed the system,,, Steve |
