MG TD TF 1500 - New Starter
I’m posting this in both the MGA and TD forums. I probably need to purchase a new starter for my MGA and have researched the following: Moss $137.95 + shipping LBC $117.26 + shipping Rock Auto Beck Arnley $62.79 + shipping AC DELCO $71.79 + shipping Ebay Beck Arnley $82.59 free shipping Is the Beck Arnley a good brand ? What about a Hi Torque Starter? |

Dave. You may want to check your local automotive electrical rebuild company. They can rebuild yours or probably have one they can rebuild for you. All the ones you get are most likely rebuilt units. Probably from the same company. There may be some reason to use a Hi Torque stater, but for my TD, I can't think of any that would cover the extra cost. |

Beck Arnley is a good name, been supplying Brit parts for yrs. I bought their parts for British bikes 40+ yrs ago, when I was in that business. I bought their starter from Rock Auto 3-4 yrs ago for the TF, no problems with it. I thought hi-torque starters were for diesels? YMMV, Al 54 TF "Emma" |

I'm not that sure about MGA's, but MG midget starters from your FLAPS fit in a TD or TF,, al LOT less expensive, and easier to get,, SPW |

dAVE, Rock auto lists the same starter for either a TD or MAG,, BECK/ARNLEY Part # 1870011 Therefor I would assume you can use the MG Midget Starter which can be purchased from your local Parts Store,, no shipping. and you can visually compare the two at the store..... SPW |
