MG TD TF 1500 - New 'T' series forum possibility.

The BCF, British Car Forum, is taking a poll on whether to ad a forum just for the T crowd. It is mainly the A & B crowd now. I and a couple of others have asked Basil to think about doing this. He's finally putting it up for a vote. Please go over there and vote for it. Only take a couple seconds. It would mean another avenue for information and possibly pick up a little more interest on the Ts. Thanks. PJ

One word. Why?

I personally don't need an additional site to read, nor another place to post advice or answers. It not just because I've never heard of BCF, which I'm sure is a fine forum. But because everything I want is right here.

I agree with Dave. If the answer ain't here it doesn't exist! My first TD question was over there about 3 years ago. Luckily someone over there referred me to this site where I've been learning ever since!

I'm sure there will be a few who would welcome another site, and have the time to spend there, but as for me, this site is all I need.

What really amazes me about this site is how polite all the contributors are. If all the sites on the internet were like this the world would be a far better place.

Well fellas, I wasn't trying to promote another forum, I just thought it would be nice to present the T series to another group of British car lovers, who never think about other cars in the British line without seeing a thread for them. Sorry, I didn't mean to start a controversial issue. PJ
P S Jennings

I think Mr. Jennings reasons are sound. Not that WE really need another forum, this on is tops. But it would be nice to make it easier for others with British cars to know more about the T's.

How many of us have multiple British vehicles?

I can't say I would o there on as regular a basis as I do this site, but I would put it on my desktop. Directing folks here is not a bad potential also.
Bruce Cunha

Just for grins, I went to the site. Not to bad but could not figure out where to vote, if I even can a s a non member.I always look for places to go to but this forum is far and away the best one out there. I have all my sites under a folder for MG stuff and I have almost 20 different sites, but only really use this one.
Tom Maine (TD8105)

I have no intention of changing. This forum provides everything a T-series enthusiast could ask for.

One very strong feature is, that we don't play games. We use our given names and there is no mud-slinging. And even if there were some, I'm sure Mike Plumstead, our 'Forum Cop' would intervene, as he has on the rare occasions when some interloper has tried to intervene. If you don't believe me, look at some of the other pathetic auto forums.

Another feature, is that we can directly up-load an image. Something done only with difficulty (Triple M a case in point), or not at all, on many other sites,

Furthermore, and as I have indicated several times before, the sponsors of this forum - Flights and Villas. Colnago C50, and Private College A Levels - don't make too much money from us, as most of the contributors don't live in the UK, the home of our sponsors.

Have a look at their web-sites for your own edification - see bottom of this TD/TF home page. We are lucky that they are patient and understanding.

If nothing more, I think loyalty has its price, and one that I continue to gladly pay!

And I would still GLADLY pay somebody for the past few years of archives of this forum burned onto a dvd! I still don't trust this "internet" thing 100%! Ours does go down on a regular basis. Gordon or somebody who "knows" our sponsors if you could look into it they might make a few bucks on it? I would say maybe $100 for a dvd would be in line? (I bought that one in Moss catalog from Brit Heritage or whatever it is and found 1)it wouldn't even "run" without contortions and 2)the info isn't relative for daily use like this forum is. Their response was basically "suck it up".)

I love this site - it is amazing the answers in the archives. I have been restoring my TF (almost done) and have answered most questions here - including some insane ones - rivet size for sidescreens to the protective tubing over the wiring harness. It is the best car site I use - I have a DeLorean and a Porsche Boxster = Porsche guys are real sharp too, but this site is the best- not only becaus of the structure allowing uploads etc, but mostly the people who are on it.

I too support this site, and don't think we need another. I have been able to solve a number of problems with my car and have contributed some advise to others. All the members are willing to share without expecting something in return. I have told many people how lucky I am to be able to get answers to quetions right here, and to learn about businesses that can repair our spares.

Ditto. Best T-Series site on the 'net!

I wasn't going to comment while I have been following and reading the posts on this thread, but now feel compelled to do so.

I think it was Dave DuBois who first alerted me to this sight and I thank my lucky stars that he did. Without the responses, information, and support I have received from this sight, I can very honestly say that I would not have made the progress I have on the restoration of my '54 TF. And to think that for the vast majority of you who contribute to this site, we have never met personally, but I have felt welcomed as one of the "gang" from the beginning. I remember someone commenting that after my second post I was now longer a "newbie".

What has impressed me is that no matter how "elementary" the questions I have raised, the responses I have received have been consistently respectful, appropriate, and insightful. Although there has been the appropriate humour which I appreciate, no condescending comments have been made, at least in my experiences. I can state unequivocally that has not been my experiences on other web-sites.

When needed, my individual contacts off the list have been received with welcome and genuine interest to help. Thanks to PJ for alerting us to the other site, but for me, after two years, this is the only site I need.

Cheers with appreciation -- John

I don't peruse the BCF site but do engage the MG Enthusiast site as do a couple of others here. Their T series forum is pretty much dead and I try and direct the T traffic here, where they will get the best info and people available.
LaVerne Downey

I too participate on the MG Experience and the BCF sites. The MG Experience site has a forum for T series cars, but as LaVerne states there is not a whole lot of activity on it. The BCF does not have model specific forums, just MG in general. Like LaVerne, I steer people on both of the other sites to this one. I simply tell them that this site has, without a doubt, the largest number of truly knowledgeable T series enthusiasts that can be found anywhere on the internet. Like the others, I don't see a real need for more T series sites and would continue referring people to this site. Of the other two sites, I find the MG Experience site to be the better of the two, particularly for the "modern MGs (MGA, MGB, MGCs and midgets). Both sites are more free wheeling that this site, a feature that I don't particularly like as I don't have a lot of spare time to fuss around with a lot of joking and BS, but that is my own preference. Cheers - Dave
David DuBois

Why indeed! I'm impressed by the jump to protect this site which is all that previous comments describe. But I really don't think that such protective action is necessarly. This site is unmatched. What is the motovation of the BCF? Certainly to make their own activity more relevent. That is not automatically a dis of this site but rather is an attempt to make their own activities more popular in the shadow of this BBS. It's a vote of confidence for us and should be viewed as such.
With warm regards,

During my TD restoration, I had some questions which I posted on BCF and Dave DuBois was kind enough to help me out. He also recommended BBS as a site with a wealth of information. Since I've been hooked on this site, I rarely go to the BCF. I find all I need here. Great job all.

thanks,
Bill

I have been a reader and contributor to this site right from its early days & am still amazed at the knowledge shown by some of the fellows on this site, It certainly helped me at times, I don't think we need to split things across more websites as long as we can always access the archives we have it all here
