MG TD TF 1500 - Nice TD crossing the block on 1/29
Really good looking car...well done. http://www.mecum.com/auctions/lot_detail.cfm?LOT_ID=FL0112-121435&entryRow=38&lottype= |

Yep, overall very nice. Too much chrome for me, that could be fixed. You have to wonder why there is a solid copper line (to gauge?) coming off of the top head banjo, the wiper motor is upsidedown and the battery holddown bar is on wrong. Can't they look a pictures? Duh! George |
George Butz |
Well if we are nit picking... whats with the screw? in the body tub near the top swivel? The fit on the tub to dash center not so good? Center mount wiper is wrong for a 51? Oil cap fixture? Battery ground going where? It will be interesting to see what it fetches. I'd put my black beauty against it any day. I have excessive chrome to George , but it works for me. |
LaVerne |
Thats a damn nice car. LaVerne, me and you. I got lots more bling on mine than that one. My headlamps were original chrome and with the wire wheels and other little trinkets it's what I want. |
Tom Maine (TD8105) |
They'll either have to chrome the interior or paint the grille slats to make it "correct" unless it is a Mk II, which it isn't. |

Plus mine has two hooters
|
LaVerne |
LaVerne, The hooters sure add to the beauty of the car. I know my TD would sure look a lot better with them standing next it him. Cheers, David..... |

Nice car. Center mount wiper is definitely not 1951. Chrome grille is wrong, too. Should be red to match the interior. Looks very clean otherwise. BobbyG |

Original- no, but I do like the chrome grillon a black car. The chrome dash center has to go. Hey LaVerne, I just noticed a TD in your picture! George |
George Butz |
It may be an illusion, but there appears to be something wrong with the speedo. It looks to far down in the housing. The oil cap is interesting. Generator is a later but could be a 51 Don't know when that changed. Overall nice. |
Bruce Cunha |
Had another look. No vent on the valve cover...hmmmmm. No body tag but the holes are there. I'd like to see the other side of the engine compartment and the underside. |
LaVerne |
Good spot on the speedo. Look at the speedo and tach needles- they don't look right. Wonder if they are the "replacement" ones Moss used to have? |
George Butz |
I have a Moss speedo and tach and the one pictured clearly has a clock. It does however appear that the two instruments are not lined up properly. still, it is a nice car. Amazing we can find flaws with all of them but it would be nice in my driveway... |
Tom Maine (TD8105) |
Not every car needs to be a concours....(sp?).... Anyway, I wouldn't drive a points car, for fear of ruining it (They make good living-room art , though).....We used to call those, "trailer queens". To me, your cars should show SOME individuality...That's part of what makes it a Car Hobby! "Rocky" has so many individual changes, that have made both by me , and others...But I love it just as much. I notice many folks here on the forum, have also made "improvements" to their cars.... Moss Motors makes a very good living selling "upgrades", and custom touches. I say "Good for them"! This is still a really nice car, with all its "flaws". Edward |

Brought $28,000 not bad Bill |
Bill Brown |
The yellow one just went for $12,250. |

LaVerne, Colorado, USA "Plus mine has two hooters" You know, LaVerne, looking at it again that might be four hooters that you got there .... ;-) BobbyG |
Bobby Galvez |
You talking about the head lights Bobby? :-) |
LaVerne |
I see 8 headlights. |
