MG TD TF 1500 - Oil-Hard to find in auto stores
Today I went to by a case of Kendall GT-1 20-50 and found that all of the auto parts stores in our MI area no longer carry it. Google to the rescue, goto the the Phillips 66 website for oil and you will find that it is now available on line for direct shipment @ $35.00 per case, delivered, no tax. Great oil with high ZDDP content for soild tappet motors like the MG |

Hmm. Is that "Kendall" really Kendall? My understanding was that the old Kendall is now Brad Penn. I wasn't aware the brand Kendall still exists -- I haven't seen it in years.... |

Can you post a link? I have just enough of the old Castroil left for 1 more oil change. Been wondering what I would go to next since my supply has run dry. |

I have been using Valvoline racing oil which is still available and contains ZDDP through the local NAPA store for $5.99 qt and no shipping costs. |

The local private auto parts store that specialized in racing has many grades of Kendall, including the 20-50. None of the big chains seem to carry it. But the case price can't be beat! George |

David, You can buy Kendall 1057267 GT-1 High Performance SAE 20W50 Motor Oil with Liquid Titanium - 1 Quart,(Pack of 12) for $56.34 on Amazon with free shipping. http://www.amazon.com/Kendall-1057267-Performance-Liquid-Titanium/dp/B004RNSO2M/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1371043386&sr=8-1&keywords=Kendall+1057267+GT-1 This is the API Service SM with ZDDP If that helps? It also indicates at the bottom of the label that it is a product of ConocoPhilips distributed by Kendall Oil Rod |

Gents, I am just starting to break my engine in after a rebuild. Is it proper to use an oil with ZDDP before the rings seat in? Thanks, Bill |

Last time I bought oil for the M.G. I got 15 cases of Castroil 20/50 for $7.00 a case. Same guy sold me Pennzoil 5/10 synthetic for $10 a case. Found him on craigslist ...I think he must have had a falling out with a company he worked for ...had a whole garage full. I bought the max we could fit in my daughters car at the time. Went back the next day with my truck and he had moved. |

>Gents, I am just starting to break my engine in after a rebuild. Is it proper to use an oil with ZDDP before the rings seat in? I was chatting about my rebuild with Ron Iskendarian (I love saying that ;-) and he recommended Brad Penn breakin oil. It's SAE 30 with what they say is optimal ZDDP -- not too much, not too little, with (I think) a little less detergent. After running in the cam 20-30 minutes, the Brad Penn rep said change to their multi-vis. |

Rob, that's good information. thanks, Bill |

Mobil 1 Extended Service has the right amount of ZDDP and has worked well in my TD for years. It even stopped minor leaks that were present before I switched. Very easy to find as well. George |
