MG TD TF 1500 - Oil in starter
The adventure continues...........I just had my starter fail because it was saturated with oil. This is the second one in 3 years. Does anyone else have this problem and/or a solution? Damn, wish that Moss oil seal worked! Regards, Tom |

Thomas, How did the oil get into the starter? Isn't the end of the starter closed except where the bendix extends out? Surely it's not coming in thru the bearing? Gene |

Thomas, Just how bad is your rear seal leaking ??? I've never had a starter fail because of getting saturated with oil,,,, even though the rear seal (Non Moss) on our TD does seap a bit,,,, I do use a less expensive starter from an MG midget which fits after filing down one of the bolt heads,,,,, SPW |

The oil must seep in around the front bushing. I drop about 2 tablespoons of oil each time I stop. Has no one else had this problem? Tom |
