MG TD TF 1500 - Orientation map lights TF
| What is the orientation of the map lights above the dashboard? Are they facing to each other (to the middle of the car) or outwards (to the doors)? I have a new wiring loom and the cables are long enough for both ways. The old wiring loom is a self made so it gives me no clue. |

| Yes they do, though the issue here might be nomenclature - they are under the rolled edge along the top of the dash. Dave H |

| Dave H is correct, TFs (1953-1955) had a pair of Map Lights under the upper dashboard. Matt Magilton will be able to indicate which way they were oriented originally as his TF1500 is untouched in many areas,including the Map Light brackets,Map Lights etc. Not depicted in any Handbook, Manual .............. | Don is correct. Bulbs should be pointing outwards (towards the doors). This is a picture of M. Magilton's original TF. Keep in mind the orientation of this picture, the passenger grab handle is on the left and steering wheel is on the right on his car. I knew this topic was discussed just recently. | The bottom of page 12 of the MG midget (Series TF and TF 1500) Operation Manual illustrates the location & operation of the map light (although not the bulb's directional orientation). |

| Frank, I think Don Walker is indicating his Map Light globes face inward toward one another i.e. both globes face away from the doors? Matt M and your own TF both have the globes facing outward ie.toward the doors. Just checked my TF 1250 and they are also facing outward. although of course the car has been fully rebuilt.
