MG TD TF 1500 - Original Steering Wheel Diameter

A simple question - what is the diameter of the original TD/TF steering wheel and how good is the Moss repro? In their catalogue they describe it as the only true original type steering wheel available since the last TF rolled off the assembly line in 1955! Goldish-tan pearlescent rim - not the mottled brown rim most people consider original,
Thanks

I still have the Original wheel from my TD it measures 16.5" diameter to the very outside of the rim. and the colour on the parts that are not cracked or warn could be described as goldish-tan pearlescent.

Thanks Pete
I was outbid for the original TD/F wheel on ebay, which would have been a bit too big anyway. I'll stick with my smaller 14" Mota-lita.

I have a 15" mota-lita wheel on my TD and I have always thought it might be better with a 14" one.

My TF came with a 16.5 Les Leston wheel which was useable with the hood down, but come winter it was difficult to slide under easily. The 14" is great and with tyre pressures at 24psi the parking loads are reasonable.

If you find it difficult to slide under the original 16.5" dia wheel, have you considered a slimming course?!!

I've done the slimming bit, do you know of any shrinking courses?
Now where did I put my frozen spectacles.

John,

Dosen't an early Morris Minor have the same wheel?
I think you will find one at one of the forthcomming autojumbles.

I'm sure the Morris Minor I had in Aden during the early sixties had a black rimmed steering wheel. It alway seemed too hot to touch! However, I have decided to stick with the 14" Motalita until I can lose four stones, twenty years, and several inches in height!

I hope that you never tried to fit in the cockpit of a Vampire or Venom!!. Did you see my message re shock absorbers on the appropriate link?
Harry [ sans spectacles].
N.B. Do you know about the mg spares day at Soneleigh the week end ? it's well worth a visit

Harry
Thanks for the info on the shock absorbers. I did in fact fly Vampire V, IX & T.11's. The T11 had a knee/thigh limit due to the danger of loosing ones knee caps when banging out. The single seaters had plenty of room, they just looked very small. Being in my late teens I could bend more easily and I didn't have a Boeing bottom! I'm afraid I will not be going o Stoneleigh as her inside has made other arrangements.

We still have the original, skinny rim, plastic (fake wood) 16.5" dia wheel on our TF. It is a light tan mottled plastic abeit all the cracks and splits.
The clearance between the top of the seat cushion and the bottom of the wheel is about 7". Have never had a problem getting in the seat
