MG TD TF 1500 - Original TF

There is a very original TF on ebay USA at the moment, item number 4532853946. Some good detail photos and a shot of a very good late TF tool kit. Chassis number 9882.

Pretty nice looking car. Should bring big bucks.

Matthew,
I find it hard to believe that the car has only done 17,000 odd miles after 50 years.

It is possible. I bought my TF (UK car) in Sept 2003 with 16495 miles on the clock. A fully documented history confirmed the figure.

The lister (seller) of this car frequently has T series for sale. I wonder if that is the future for many USA owners -- retire to Florida and then see your T car listed on Ebay.

The TF 1500 in town that I helped restore in '89 had around 17,000 miles on it. The car had been parked since the early 60's. I got to visit with it last week- It is the slickest shifting T-type I have driven no doubt due to the low mileage unworn tranny parts. In the picts that car looks totally original and unrestored, so it could be.

So, gentlemen... what's a car like this worth (assuming it is as described)?

Wow. That's out of my league. I assume that is the going market in Britain. Anyone care to hazard a guess for The States?

George, does the car you helped restore still have its original tool kit? If so, I would be interested to see a picture.

Looking at the tool kit, what is that long skinny thing laying at the bottom of the photo?

I LOOKED AT THIS TF AND IT IS VERY NICE. IT HAS A RADIO ANTENNA ON THE SIDE. I HAVE BEEN LOOKING FOR SUCH AN ITEM FOR MY TD. DOES ANYONE KNOW A SOURCE FOR THOSE LIL DEVILS?
J FLESHMAN

those types of radio antenna show up on Ebay all the time being sold by some one in Georgia...just search under MG TF, you'll find them.

This TF has caught my imagination. Does anyone have an opinion of what would be a reasonable price on the car here in the US?

Having an original car myself, this one looks to be in about the same condition as mine when I bought it. The leather has that "orange patina" color, and is faded and cracked and will have to be replaced when driven on for while. It nice to have a good set of window and the orig. top, but they will become useless once used. The fabric is usually rotted.
Paint looks original, but its been really polished to look good. A few years of driving and sunlight will render it un-polishable as too much of the paint will come off and you will be down to the undercoat.
Very nice car by the photo's but I would not pay $21M for it without an inspection by someone knowledgeable with the TF.
I paid $12M for my car 6 years ago and it had 24,000 miles and was fully provenenced.

Wrong hose clamp on the upper hose, and the steering wheel looks far too good.

Thanks, Colin. Having only driven B's in the past, I have to tread carefully into the world of the T Series. By the way, the reserve was not met at US $21,400.00

Cheers,
