MG TD TF 1500 - OT-Leftover TD Stuff

I ran into a situation of somebody with a batch of acquired TD stuff that needed a new home before it was getting tossed out. I'm a softy who can't say 'no', the stuff was only an hour away. I'll list the stuff here and try to sneak in photos in response to questions. I'm not planning to make money on this stuff.

There is a complete, matching set of bonnet panels (no hardware) plus a set of top bonnet panels. They're in good condition, i.e., no rust , dents or tears.
A pair of doors in decent condition. A rebuildable pair of TD horns plus another USA horn. A machined, flip lid radiator cap. A metal spare tire cover set. A pair of Anco wind wings.
A pair of older style side view mirrors. Their mounting is not compatible with a TD. A pair of fuel tank mounting straps in very good condition.
An unopened Moss fender cover, now obsolete, but they still sell a TF version. A pair of interior door latches, one's not bad, the other is cracked.
AN MGB 5/8" sway bar, used but usable. An outer fascia with door. Main value is the complete chrome surround. Four hub caps, one with emblem, one rusty.
Four connecting rods of unknown origin with surface rust. A pair of cycle-type front fenders. A pair of chrome headlight stone guards, new condition but no mounting hardware.

There is a blower that has been identified as an old Miata machine.

Bud – Terry replies, “That is an old generation 3 Eaton M45 as fitted to a Jackson Racing Mazda Miata. “ As a short-nose it will need a lot of work to be fitted to an MG.

I'll have to figure out how to combine images into one large image.

In the meantime, here's the flip-lid cap. The threads seem to match a TD radiator. Bud

Is the "surround" a grille shell? If so I'm interested.
L E D LaVerne

The 'surround' that I'm speaking of is the chrome strips that 'surround' the fascia. I have a grill shell if you're interested You have mail. Bud

Bud
I'd be interested in the fascia/chrome surround strips.
Let me know what you're asking. Shipping might be a kicker.
Thanks

Bill, I need your mailing/shipping address to figure out prices. My email address is shown above.

Anyone else interested in costs should email me your mailing address. That also makes it easier for me to send images to you. Bud

Are the connecting rods from a TD/TF? I'm trying to put together a set for a TD short block build. Photo?
T W Moore

Bud,

I don't need any of this but thanks for being a good chap and rescuing it.
John Quilter (TD8986)

T W, I don't think they're XPAG rods. Been a while since I last had my eyes on the innards of an engine (thank goodness), but I don't recall that there's an angle involved. These were wrapped up in newspaper in a basement for a long time. Bud

Randy, Bill, Jim - you have mail. Thanks for the kind words, John.

I'm surprised that no one has expressed an interest in the fender covers. I've used a set of them for years and they've saved a lot of scratches. Moss still lists the TF version on line at well over $100. I'm open to offers via email.

I am interested in the sway bar.

Hi Bud, those are MGA or MGB con rods.

Nice job Bud! Another vintage parts stash saved from the crusher.

The rust lover in me is fighting hard to not say I want something I don't need. ;)
Steve Simmons

Hey, Steve -- how about a set of surface rusty MGA/MGB rods? Or, a set of side view mirrors with an odd mounting method. Looks like they'd screw into the side screen holes on the the doors. They're Denso's. Bud

Bud Krueger

Hi Bud, I'd be interested in the wind wings and the stone guards.

I also have a bunch of stuff I will post later, when I first got the MG TD from my Dad I got a little crazy and bought some boxes of parts off eBay, most of it I don't need, keep an eye out for my post.

Thanks,

Steve

Steve, the wind wings have taken flight. Stone Guards are in excellent condition, but no hardware. Moss wants $11.49. I'd be happy with $5 + shipping. I'll need your mailing address. My email address is shown above. Bud

Bud Krueger

Those appear to be wing mirrors with a spring loaded base. I have something similar (Tex brand) on my '67 BGT. They're very handy because when (not if) someone bumps them out of adjustment, you can just snap them back into position. Or maybe those aren't spring loaded, but the large hole they require to mount looks like they are.

The rods look like they are for early 5-main MGB. I seem to remember MGA have pinch bolts. Try to give them away and if you can't then I'll give them a home until I find someone who needs them. Just don't throw them away! ;)
Steve Simmons

Okay, folks, you hear the man -- I am hereby trying to give the connecting rods away. Just pay shipping. Please? Bud
Bud Krueger

I guess I didn't mean to suggest they aren't worth anything. Somehow I was thinking you were looking only for the cost of shipping. Others may know better but I don't think the early type rods are in much demand, but they may still be worth something to someone who needs a set.
Steve Simmons

Steve, I'm not out to make money on this stuff. My initial idea was to donate any 'profits' to a missionary group that I support. The day that I picked up the stuff I ran into another need. A friend of ours has a 1991 Dodge pickup that is her daily transportation. She just had to replace the motor. Now, her charging system has given up the ghost. Not as simple as our generator/regulator system. This is probably a case of needing either an alternator or control module (computer). That's where these proceeds are heading. These rods will fit in a medium flat rate box at a cost of $13.65 anywhere in the country. Does anybody want them?

I'm heading to NAPA to get an alternator tested. Raining here for the next two days. Truck's outside. Bud
Bud Krueger

Steve D - do you still want the stone guards? Bud
Bud Krueger

I've identified the set of mirrors. They are Desmo No. 890276. Just Google Desmo No. 890276. They're not for our cars, but seem to be popular among collectors. eBay seems to be after £16 to £100.

BTW, the stone guards are still available for $5+ Should be cheap shipping, will fit in padded envelope. Moss sells them for TFs, not TDs. Bud

Bud Krueger

Okay, no interest there, let's try one more thing, Aluminum Strips for running board, 2 long ones, 1 short one. First offer (+ shipping) gets 'em. Bud
