MG TD TF 1500 - Ouch!
Here's what can happen when the screw post isn't secured well enough on the air filter and gets sucked into the #1 cylinder... Makes you cry on a newly rebuilt engine with about 1000 miles! The good side is how much more familiar we've become with the inner workings of the valves and pistons!

Earl - glad you have it out now. Ouch is right! Have you had any luck on finding a replacement piston that can be matched to the existing set? Hang in there, Jeff |

Wow. Bet that made a really bad noise. At least it didn't hole the block or anything. Don't feel bad- at my engine rebuild a few years ago I think I had the engine out 3 times due to lack of oil pressure and a really bad leak. It is the pits, but you get faster each time. George |

I know that this created a lot of additional work for you, but just to put it in perspective, it could have been worse. http://rides.webshots.com/photo/1180841727036619046SFRIKn |

Earl, I had the exact same thing happened to me a few years ago. #1 cylinder and all. I just got my TD running this summer. What size piston do you need? I think I have a spare STD. http://www2.mgcars.org.uk/cgi-bin/gen5?runprog=mgbbs&access=&mode=archiveth&subject=8&subjectar=8&thread=2006020901361716867 Steve |

Thanks all! We have a single piston on the way. Looks like she'll go back together next weekend. |
