MG TD TF 1500 - Parting Company 1953 TD
Gents, I have been lurking here for more than a decade with occasional contributions but certainly not an expert. Now, health concerns force me to consider selling my MG. I do not want to leave a car in a bushel basket for my wife to dispose of. It is a Clipper Blue late 1953 TD in what I call 90% good condition. No significant mods but undoubtedly some incorrect nuts and bolts. I believe, based on conversations with the PO that it is a mid 1980s restoration. Seems to me it was a nice job at the time but it is ready for a redo. Very dividable as is if that is your choice. I invite SERIOUS prospective buyers to email me with any and all questions. I will respond between Dr, appointments, and I assure you that I will be frank and honest as to my knowledge of the car. It is my wish that an MG guy finds the car to his liking so it can continue on the road bringing smiles to young and old alike. The best part of ownership in IMHO. Enough for now. If you have a serious interest at $12,500 email me. Gerard, I know you will be disappointed and try to talk me out of this but I think I am doing the right thing for all involved. Respectfully, Jim Haskins P. S. Lost photos hope temporary |

Jim, I wish I knew what to say to encourage you. I will keep you in my prayers for your health and that you make the correct decisions going forward. Bill |

Not to steal Jim's thread, but I have been giving some thought on what happens to my MG's if something happens to me. Trying to teach my wife about this web and have instructed her that if the need arises to list my TD on this site. I have children that they could go to, but I don't see that they really have the love that people here have. |

Jim, you might want to include your email address. |

Unfortunately, my kids can't even pick out the MGs in a line up, at the grocery store! They also can't believe they won't go over 100 (because that is where the spedometer stops!!!!). It is sad. -David |

Gents, Gerard, thank you for the call and the encouraging conversation. You are a true friend and such generous support is appreciated without measure. Bill, thank you also for your concern and prayers. Bruce, I also hope our decisions turn out to perpetuate continued beauty of these wonderful cars where many can enjoy them. EFH, sorry my email use to appear with my name. No wonder no messages this morning. The heads-up is greatly appreciated. I am jhaskins2 at cox dot net. Thanks to all, Jim Haskins |

I let my nephew take mine for a weekend. He left his car here then called me on Sunday nite and said, "keep my car". I did not do that of course but the car is going to him when I can no longer use it.He loved it.. |
Tom Maine |
Tom, So pleased you found an enthusiastic caretaker for the next generation. I have the same fear about my MG (though hopefully it will be a long time coming before it's a pressing issue). This is one of the main reasons I let anyone and everyone have a chance to sit in it. I only hope that one of them will get interested as I did and find one to take care of some day. Alex |

Very sorry you are not well and hope you recover. Can you and/or the car make it to GOF South at Crystal River? That would be a good place to show and advertise it. George |
George Butz |
George, Been wishing to attend a GOF for years but I think this is probably not the year. Most anxious to put health problems behind me but medical community is slow and cautious. Thank you for your concern. In the mean time my very good friend Gerard has helped to put my mind at ease regarding the TD. Also, no curious lookers or buyers so will hope to move ahead with a number of MG projects when health improves. Cordially, Jim Haskins 1953 TD |

Jim, best wishes on your recovery. And hope to see many more of your posts on this BBS. |
Len Fanelli |
Len, Thank you. All you guys have been supportive and I can not express my gratitude enough. I have been encouraged to look forward to the long list of improvements for my car. On that list is that well respected cam and roller lifters. Here where nearly all highways are four lanes the ability to cruise at highway speeds is important. Got my head up and looking forward to the best treatment. Sincerely, Jim Haskins |

AT-A-BOY Jim, push forward!!!! Overcome adversity. Good to hear your spirit is lifted. Bill TD24570 |

Best of luck Jim, I've been through some of my own issues the last few years. I'm gonna drive the TF till they have to pry my fingers off the steering wheel. |
