MG TD TF 1500 - Pedals for short people

My wife is even shorter than I am. She needs the pedals in her TF to be closer to the driver. Extensions for the brake and clutch are no problem.

> How can I move the accelerator closer to her without bending or cut/weld the rod?

Thanks,

My wife doesn't drive the TF but she does drive the MGB on occasion. She's 5'2" and there is a pillow in the car to put between her back and the seat when she does in order to reach the pedals. If that doesn't work I reckon you could remove the roller and fabricate a block of aluminium in its place that would reach closer to the seat with either a pedal on the end or incorporate the original roller to it.

I tried to remove the screw for the wheel in the gas pedal on my TF with no results. I’ll see if I can remove the screw from her gas pedal and fabricate something like you described. Definitely gonna require thinking out of the box.

She just bought the car. It’s at a local shop for a checkup before GOF-South next week. So she hasn’t driven it. I’m sure that pillows and spacers under the seat rails are in the cards.

The issue with the pillow is the space between the steering wheel and the seat back.

A steel strap, the end formed into a 1/2 circle the same diameter as the rod to be hose clamped to the rod. Weld a piece of stock perpendicular to the steel strap of a dimension that would allow it to fit behind the wheel in the “U” channel piece on the existing accelerator rod. See attached pic) if that piece fits in there snuggly it will keep the extension from rotating or shifting sideways. Make the extension as long as necessary. You can finish the end where the drivers foot contacts it by bending the last 1 1/2” downward at a 30-45 degree angle or forming the end to accept a roller to contact the drivers foot.

If that makes any sense. Just spit ballin’ here

Nice idea Tom,

I was struggling with a way to keep the extension from rotating side-to-side.
