MG TD TF 1500 - 'Period-Correct' Accessories?
Since I want to put "Period-Correct" accessories on the gem of my collection, my mgtf, I thought that I'd ask the denizens of this board for suggestions. Pictures would be nice, too. |

Steve The "T" Series Handbook, published by the New England MG T Register has several pages of period ads for acessories. Jan |

Steve, go to Chris Couper's excellent website for information on accessories for the TD and TF. http://www.mgcars.org.uk/mgtd/mgtd_accessories.htm |

Our T came with 1950's Amco round ashtrays on both door. Look for Lucas electric de-mister, a horizonal bar heater attatched to you windscreen by suction cups. We also have windscreen washer which are operated by a hand pump on the dash. Fluid is contained in a plasic bag under the right side foot rest. Marked Bluemel's. Car has a round Bosch heater which was a dealer install in Germany. |

Robert- Now, that's an interesting item. Do you have one on your car? How well does it work? |

Steve, Best "source" of these I have found have been on ebay. Years ago whilst attempting to figure out what was "correct" for the TF to get her sorted out I started collecting old mags from 53/55 thinking pictures of the car when "new" would be a big help! After reading the "TF" related stories I found myself looking at the "adds" in the back of the mags. BEWARE: it opened a whole new hobby/sickness! There were all kinds of little "trinkets" back there I started looking for! i.e. A beautiful (over-priced) set of locking wood glove box doors, "Hunting" lamp, Tea Kettle (My Favorite!), Reversing lamps, Map light, Parking lamp (required when parking on London streets at night back then...clipped on your window),Work lights, tail pipe "clam sheels",brass water-bottle "foot-warmers"...ect ect. In one of those mags there was even a set of Octagon Chrome air cleaners with M.G. logo from a company in Canada (I'm still looking for a set of those!..but not the "cheap repros of them I have seen)! I can throw some pics of some of the ones I have in a zip file and send to you...or maybe somebody would want to post them somewhere? Also in one of the 50's mags I have I ran across "the King of accesories" Louie Mattar's 47 Caddy. If want a good chuckle check this guy out on the web I found him several places...the car is at San Diego Museum...on of the pictures in the mag I have shows Louie smoking a "hooka" he has mounted to the dash,(like to see somebody explaining that to the Hi-way Patrol!)..in another he is being interviewed sitting on the 250 gallon gas tank/trailer he pulls behind it...both of them are smoking! http://www.hearsedriver.com/april_2001_san_diego_auto_museum.htm Enjoy ...and send me an address if you want a zip of some of my favotites I have collected over the years! Cheers, (I think there's a bar in here somewhere) David 55 TF 1500 #7427 |

David: Zip up the pics and I will post them to the accessories pages if I can find a free moment. Chris |
