MG TD TF 1500 - pertronix ignition installation-2

I would like to revive the pertronix thread as I still think the instructions are not great. I am installing pertronix in a 55 tf/1500 p-ground car. Questions. On removing the point wire from the coil terminal. I assume this is the white with black wire from the coil to the distributor. I assume also this the positive terminal as instruction 12 says 'connect a wire from the positive coil terminal to the pos battery or to the chassis'. The big and simple question is, since this amounts to simply moving the positive w/b wire from the distributor to a chassis ground, why do the instructions not just say that???. Somehow it seems so simple but I fear frying the damn thing if my thinking is fuzzy (as befits my age group). Thanks for your help, can't run the car till I hear from someone. Don Harmer, where are you when I need you???. I would be there if the car ran (and I had a 4.3 rear). Thanks all. Dave Cates.

I installed a pertronix P ground system a year or so ago and also found the instructions confusing. Being an electrical dunce I enlisted some help from a friend who had installed electronic ignitions on some other cars, turned out none were P ground or pertronix. Mine came with standard instuctions for N ground installation, separate instructions for P ground, and as I recall three diagrams. My knowedgeable friend after a quick look at the N ground instuctions, zeroed in on the appropriate diagram hooked it all up and nothing happened. Turned out all the diagrams are for N ground. Anyway it didn"t fry and after puzzling over the P ground intructions we got it right and it works very well indeed.
I complained at the time about the instructions. Pertronix should eliminate the N ground diagrams from P ground instalations or at least include a P ground diagram with their P ground instructions. Terry

Thanks to a number of off-bbs emails the pertronix is working fine. . now, about those valves and carbs and timing.. Good grief. IT does run however. Thanks to all , Dave.
