MG TD TF 1500 - polarity of horns & ammeter
Well, my rewiring is proceeding at a leisurely pace. The old wires had no color left. Does it matter which of the two wires attached to a horn goes where, or are the correction points interchangable? For the ammeter, obviously it does matter, but I don't know which wire goes on which side. I could do trial and error, but it would be easier to get it right the first time. |

Richard - The horns are not polarity sensitive, so it doesn't matter which way they are wired. The Ammeter is polarity sensitive, but it doesn't hurt anything if is hooked up backward, it will just read in the wrong direction. You could hook it up to a battery charger (set for a low charge and a light bulb and see which terminal is positive and which is negative and mark them before installing it. Cheers - Dave |

Thanks Dave. Probably trial and error will be as easy as anything else. I have a 50% chance of getting it right the first time. Maybe someone recalls which way works. By the way, as I was planning the routing of the headlight wires, i noticed the radiator is leaking. Oh no! I guess it will come out now, which at least will make wiring easier! |
