MG TD TF 1500 - Rear Bumper Bracket Bolts?

Could one of you guys tell me what size the two main rear bumper frame mounting bolts are? Thread size is also needed. It appears that the wrong bolts were used at one time and the threads in the chassis are slightly rolled. One side appears to be worse than the other. I'll probably need a thread chaser to correct them. PJ

Thanks Dallas, Here's one of the bolts used. The length and diameter is right, and it has a 16 thread count. I don't know if it's a BSF or not. It's possible that they were run in to rusted threads in the chassis, (if they are BSF). Next photo shows how the threads were compromised. PJ

Threads,

I just found out that my original thoughts were correct, where someone screwed the right bolts in but the chassis holes had debris in them, by looking at the threads, rust probably. I chased the bolts with a BSF chaser and also the threads in the chassis and all is well. The car supposedly sat for 16 years in a barn and probably didn't have the bumpers on. I found other bolts that were screwed in dirty holes also. Shame they didn't take the time to make sure they were clean. Oh well, I know I'm not alone on that situation. Thanks again Dallas for your input. PJ

Paul, your closeup images are beautifully sharp. What camera are you using, if I may ask? Bud

Paul and Bud -- I thought the same thing. Tell us about the photography aspect of those pictures, please.

1/2 BSF has thread count of 16. Cheers - Dave

Bud & Bob, the camera is an Olympus FE-330. Nothing special. It's slightly smaller than a pack of cigarettes. It has a lot of settings, one being a macro setting with an automatic focus and only uses back light, no flash on macro. A pale blue color, here a shop towel, helps soften the background and makes the object clearer, why, I don't know, I'm not a photographer, all I know is how to set it and push the buttons. Thanks for the compliment though. PJ.

Dave, Thanks, that's what they are, 1/2" BSF. Someone in the past didn't clean out the rusty threads before screwing the bolts in and the result is obvious. PJ

Found Paul's camera on eBay for $40. Has a great super-macro setting and is very easy to use. Only problem was locating an Olympus USB cable. (Found one for $4.) Example:

Bud, 40 bucks, good buy, they were over 300 when new. I'm amazed that mine is still in good shape, as I carry it every where. To this day, it's the best cheap camera I've ever owned. PJ

Paul, I'm having a problem getting the right USB cable for the camera. Any chance that you could get me a close up image of the camera end of your USB cable? Other option is that the socket may have internal damage. A response to my above email would be fine. Many thanks. Bud
