MG TD TF 1500 - Rear Shock Rebuilders?
Hi guys - Will you give me some real-world feedback on rear shocks rebuilt by Worldwide and by Apple Hydrolics? My TF-1500 bottoms out on the slightest bump. One shock leaks. Gonna get the shocks rebuilt. Maybe I won't need to rehab / replace the rear springs. APPLE: http://www.applehydraulics.com/british.htm $95 each 5-day turnaround 1-yr warranty Sounds like a traditioinal type rebuild WORLDWIDE: http://www.nosimport.com/shoxcatalog.htm $77 each Not much info on website I have read recommendations of Worldwide on this BBS. Others have had good luck with Apple. I would like the rebuilt shocks to remain basically stock so that they can be rebuilt again by the next steward of my TF if needed. Pros/Cons of each rebuilder? Thanks, Lonnie TF7211 |

Lonnie. RE-NFT54TF I suggest that you use World wide. They give a lifetime warranty. Sandy |

Lonnie, Peter at WW is great. Very happy with his service and turnaround. |

Worldwide. Apple did a pair a few years ago, both started leaking after 2 years. They did repair for free. A few months back my car was doing some weird things going over bumps, was a bit darty and something was just not right in the suspension. Turns out one rear shock had nearly no damping in one direction only, the other was just limp. Worldwide rebuild my spare pair and handling is the best it has been in years. This is the 4th or 5th pair they have done for me, all perfect. Turnaround depends on how busy they are, but worth the wait. George |

Apple-- no way, from experience. Did some MGA shocks for me that started leaking almost immediately. Worldwide-- heartily recommend from experience with redoing the MGA shocks above, the TD, and the racing midget. |

Worldwide wins hands down on warranty work on any shock they restore. Cheers - Dave |

Thanks guys - that is exactly the kind of feedback that I wanted. I sent my Armstrong rear shocks to Peter at World Wide today. Lonnie TF7211 |

Anyone do a DIY rebuild of these shocks? |

Kyle If you get the chance, attend a tech session put on by Peter from Worldwide and you will understand why doing it yourself is not all that easy. Peter has has special equipment made to make the rebuild as good as it can be. As Peter says. If you shock is leaking, you can try to rebuild it yourself, and when that leaks, send it to him. If it ever leaks again, they fix it for free. |
