MG TD TF 1500 - Rear TC shock needed
For a TC I just got into the shop, I am need of a left rear shock absorber, with link (and ideally, with bolts). Thanks very much. Tom Lange MGT Repair |

Hi Tom,
I am guessing you already know this. If you can get a a right hand shock, you can extract the arm (with shaft) and press it in at 180 degrees. There could be a slight difference in valving each end ..... that could be swapped but probably wouldn't be necessary. Even if you can find a front shock and fit a rear arm (if you have one) that should do. The fronts and rears might have different valve strengths but I doubt that would be significant. I would bet that most TC shockers today would vary significantly from original strengths. Wear, various oil viscosities and owner "switching" would randomise the effectiveness of original "valve settings". Any TC shock should do if you have a rear arm. Good luck with the TC. Thanks, Bob; for some strange reason the car on which I am working is simply missing the entire left rear shock! Unfortunatelty, I have nothing at all, and am looking for a complete unit. Thanks for your advice, which is good to know (I knew the backs could be swapped, but didn't think that a front might fit). Tom Lange MGT Repair |

Check the axle mounting flanges for cracks, very carefully. They almost all crack, resulting in sudden axle detachment. Be well, David |

Tom, The TC shocks don't come up often...you might try Worldwide Auto Part (http://www.nosimport.com/) and see if they can help. Gene |
