MG TD TF 1500 - Reassembly guide for a TD
Is anyone aware of a website or document that gives a reassembly guide for the TD? (i.e. what sequence things are put back on/in the car). I'm putting the freshly painted tub with the doors back on the completed frame next week. I plan to do the fenders, bonnet, running boards, gas tank, splash aprons and tire carrier after the electrical and interior is finished. I realize it's really a matter of common sense. But if someone has found any tips or tricks in reassembly I'd be happy to learn them. Tim TD12524 |

The best book on the subject is - The Complete MG TD Restoration Manual by Horst Schach. Well worth getting a copy. Dave H |

X2 on the Schach manual, very detailed on many aspects of the restoration. |

Worth having Schach & also Malcolm Green. In terms of sequence no problems with Schach but some details are incorrect e.g. upholstery. Check out Chris Couper's site 'The Original MG TD midget' on questions of originality. Cheers Peter TD 5801 |

If all as mocked up in primer and assembled first, your plan is fine. If not, you will have to shim the tub mounting points and install the tire carrier rack. The rack may raise or lower the back of the tub, changing the door pillar angle. George |

I agree with all the above. In addition I have found the book "T Series Restoration Guide" by Malcolm Green very useful. However, I think the most valuable resource is Dave Braun's photographic record of his rebuild.I have used this time and time again. Maybe I will meet him one day and be able to thank him. |

Thanks everyone, much appreciated. Dave Braun's site is a treasure trove. I have Schach's book but I didn't find the order of assembly very coordinated. Excellent reference none the less. George, thanks for the tip about the tire carrier. Here's where I'm at so far. Regards Tim TD12524 |

Looking great! Make sure you have the correct bonnet to cowl rubber- most of what has been available in the US has the wrong contour (too round and short front-rear). The correct will make fitting the bonnet/cowl gaps much easier. George |

George, based on your or someone else's recommendation I bought the cowl rubber from Brown and Gammons. Thanks Tim TD12524 |
