MG TD TF 1500 - Replacing Pancake Filters with Original Air Cleane
I currently have pancake type(Hellings and Stellings type) air filters on my TD (MKII). I like them very much, and the car runs fine. However, at a recent show I was asked why I wasn't running with the original air cleaner setup. The judge accepted them as period accessories, but for a more concours event I probably should put back the original setup. The truth is that when I was tuning my carbs, I found the pancake setup to be much easier to work with. However, if I switch back to the original setup (I have the parts, except for a standard air cleaner rather than a Mk II type): 1. Will the carbs need readjustment(they run great now) 2. Will power be reduced (ie will air flow ("breathing") be restricted)? Ira |

Ira - Haven't seen you on here for awhile, welcome back! I don't have any suggestions to solve your problem, just wanted to say hello. Cheers - Dave |

Hi Dave! I'm still around, but work (and good weather) have kept me off the bbs much. Now that decent weather has arrived here in the East Coast, I'm trying to spend as much time outdoors (and driving) as possible. I try to get in one MG related event each weekend. I'm also traveling a lot for my job. I hope all is well with you and yours! Ira |
