MG TD TF 1500 - Resurrection of NEMGTR #2
The below was posted on the MG-t list by Gene Fodor: "So, here's the rest of the story: Dave is rebuilding the TD that Frank Churchill the co-founder of the New England MGT Resister was killed in a number of years ago but seem like only yesterday. It is a full ground up restoration with a lot of welding and straightening going on. This is not only a rebuild/restoration it is a project of love. So, now you know the rest of the story." Somehow, I'm having trouble with that. But that's IMHO. Bud |

Frank Churchill was a good friend of mine. Despite living in Middlebury VT, he was on the BofD of the Montreal Shriners Children's Hospital, and in addition to we both being members of the Sports Car Club of Vermont in the early 50s, we saw each other frequently especially at the GOFs. BTW, the term 'GOF' was coined by Frank, and is now used by many car clubs including the Limcoln Continental Club ... but I digress. I knew Frank before he bought his TD, the TD you are mentioning above. I was in Middlebury the day Frank was killed. I was supposed to go flying with him at 1:30PM. I could hear ambulances in the background as I ate my lunch. When I headed out to the Middlebury airport using airport transfers tonbridge, I was blocked at the entrance to the road. I knew a back road and took that, arriving upon the accident scene. His TD has been lovingly restored by Jan and Bill Sanders of Cambridge Vt. just the way Frank would have wanted it. Jan & Bill also obtained Frank's TC from the estate, and have restored that too. So both cars are in good hands. Frank was one of those warm, truly great guys and everybody liked him; and I will always take a few moments to say a deserving kind word for him, when the opportunity presents itself. Good Morning Bud Any chance posting a link to the site of the article. I can't get the MG-T list to come up John The below was posted on the MG-t list by Gene Fodor: |

John, the list referred to is on the autox.team.net series, a member-type list - mg-t@autox.team.net. Gene posted a question about engine colors. The text that I copied above is from his response to members answering his question about the colors. Gordon's posting here has much more information on it. Frank's car , 'Old #2', was obviously a well cared for driver. Don't think I'd recognize it all spiffied up with new paint, etc. He was such a great down-to-earth guy. Bud |

"We are only on this earth for a short time." The cars live on as well as the memories of their owners. My TD will be passed on to my daughter, as it was to me, when she pushes me into a wheel chair, or.... RIP Frank. May God bless him and his idea of the GOF. |

This post does one great thing. It gives us all a chance to remember, or learn about another person. By remembering, he lives on. Great to hear that the car was salvaged. It will assist in remembering, just as this post shows. |

I haven't seen Frank's TD since the early days in Bill Sanders' garage. I can only assume it is now completed. His Vermont license plates read SCCV on the TD, and on his TC it was 49 TC (I think). And he had painted his TD wheels red. Anybody got any pix of the finished TD? Gord Clark Rockburn, Qué. |
