MG TD TF 1500 - Road and Track Dec' 1954 TF Feature wanted
Does anybody have this issue? I am hoping for scans of the TF feature, especially the photos. Any other American magazines have a new TF feature? Cheers, Matthew. |

Hi Matt., The Dec 1954 'Road and Track'article on The TF1500 was re published in the Brooklands Books publication on the mgtf 1953-1955.(pages 40-42). If you have not got the Brooklands Book, would you like me to email the article? Cheers for now. Rob Grantham TF3719("Aramis"),TF9177("Athos"). |

I have a couple of period magazines with articles about the TF, I don't remember which magazines they were I will check tomorrow. JB |

Aha! Thank you Rob, now I remember where I got that dodgy old photocopy of the overhead-engine photo. Yes, I do have that Brooklands book. So now I no longer need the full article, just a nice sharp image of that overhead-engine shot from the original magazine if anyone can oblige? And any similar features from other American magazines. It is interesting to compare both the 1250 and 1500 features in Road and Track. In 1953 the TF 1250 was "America's best sports car buy" but by 1954 they spent most of the introduction defending the 1500 from criticism. Cheers, Matthew. |

Matthew, I don't have the Road and Track, but I have a CARS Nov. '53 with a feature article with quite a few photos and a Motor trend Dec. '53 with just a blurb about the TF and a couple of photos. I can try to scan these if you don't already have them. Interestingly, the CARS article photos show the flasher and its attachment clearly, but it also shows the heat shield for the carburetor heat shield- you can't always count on these early photos. Regards, JB |

Thank you JB, scans would be great. The heatshield car is one of the pre-production cars used for the launch and in the BMC publicity photos, but I don't think I have a photo of the left hand side of the engine bay so I would be interested to see that, as well as the write ups. mbmagilton "AT" msn"DOT"com Cheers, Matthew. |

JB, let me know if my email address has confused you. (Just replace "AT" with @ and "DOT" with .) Cheers, Matthew. |
