MG TD TF 1500 - Robbins Tops at fair prices
I was cruising RockAuto and came up with what seem to be good prices for Robbins tops for the TF (I didn't check for TD but assume them to be similar). Have a look at http://www.rockauto.com/catalog/x,carcode,1395367,parttype,1000150 Vinyl tops in Black, Tan or White for $214, and Stayfast tops in Black, Blue, Burgandy, Grey and several shades of Brown/Tan, all for $410. Good to know Gordon. Haven't bought a Robbins top(hood) in years but I was always pleased with what I received from them. Prices don't show on the link for the stay fast materials for me. |

laverne, did you see the text that reads "See Options at Left"? when you use the drop down menu for "Choose color" the prices appear in the drop down. regards, tom |

L E D you have to choose a color for the price to appear in any of the products. Louis |

I'm a little confused, normal these days, about what is in the package for the side curtains. Ad says, sewn in metal frames? Can't mean the whole frame for that price, does it mean the bottom wire? The prices are great compared to Moss! PJ |

Figured everything out AFTER I had my coffee! Including the fact that I need new side frames, which I'll get from a Moss distributor, I can buy a new top, new side window coverings from Rock Auto and the new frames from Moss for less than Moss wants for a side window kit alone! Which means, I get the top for free, leaving a little change in my pocket, compared to buying the whole lot from Moss. I think the metal frame in the Robbins side curtain is the wire in the bottom flap. That would have to be sewed in during manufacture. Need some kinda clarification on reliability of Rock Auto prices and shipping. Any help in that area? PJ |

I'm not going to get too wound up until I have more info on quality of product and place of manufacture. Nothing against the Chinese people. Regards, tom |

I have dealt with Rock a few times- headlamp assemblies for an old Mustang, filters, etc. 6 various Nissan cabin air and air filters (Wix) were cheaper than buying 2 locally. Everything perfect, no problems. I looked at the listing- looks like they order from Robbins and drop-ship or something. George |

Robbins tops have a good reputation. I would assume Robbins makes their own tops in their own shop. Last top I bought was from Prestige in the UK. Excellent! But I'm like Tom, as to needing some references for Rock Auto before shelling out the bucks.PJ |

I wish you Yanks would use the word 'cheap' in the right context. 'Cheap' implies poor value , poor materials, poorly made as well as being inexpensive. I don't believe that a Robbins top is in any way cheeeeep!. I have a Robbins tonneau on my TF and its anything but 'cheap'. ... just my 1930's English schooling coming through.
