MG TD TF 1500 - Royal Mail Delivery Service
I started to paint my enngine with maroon paint purchased from a well known mg spares company. The delivery was next day. Unfortunately I ran out of paint before the job was finished. I thus ordered another can but from a different supplier who use Royal Mail for delivery. After ten days the paint has not arrived. The supplier and myself have contacted Royal Mail customer "services" and they will not do anything until 20 working days have elapsed - considering we have a bank holiday next week this means a lead time of one month! To make matters worse the supplier has run out of paint so can not send me another can. My engine is current swinging from a hoist, so I can reach all parts, and it looks like it will remain like that for some time. I have recently spent over £1000 on numerous spares and delivery by private courier has been excellent in every case. In future I will check on who will deliver any parts I order and think twice if it is Royal Mail. Jan T |

Jan, Ahh, the Royal Mail! My son ordered a gift for my wifes birthday from the UK in July. To be sent by Royal Mail, it hasn't arrived yet! Calling the company to find out the problem, they said they delivered it to the mail service on July 1st or 2nd. He'll give them some more time, but litigation will prevail, if they don't preform. In your situation, I think they've been down right rude! PJ |

Too bad you aren't closer. I've got 1/2 a can left! Ed |

Thanks for the offer Ed. I almost think it would be quicker for you to send your half can to me by a slow boat! When my can eventually arrives I will only use a small amount - to touch up around the oil pump so between us both we will probably have a full can! Jan T |

I have sent an order to the UK via USPS, when it arrived they said they tried to deliver but no one was at the address. They never tried to deliver my order, it took another 4 months for my order to be returned to me to re ship via FED EX. Do not ship to the UK via their postal service! |

I sent a package to the UK and had the exact same scenario as Len. Not only did they not try to deliver as stated but it was being held in customs for a hefty fee. When I ordered my bushing kit from Polybush the package got held up at customs on the US side for the same thing, even though at one point tracking indicated the package was moving but it wasn't because it was sitting in NY. I have had other packages shipped from the UK no problem, seems to be random checks. |

The tires on the wifes MGB came from Holland, I ordered them direct. It took 3 months to get them as they sat in a container in Canada for 6 weeks waiting approval! Seems like after 911, everything coming from over seas is held up by customs for lengthy periods. After they were approved for further shipment, it only took a week to get them. PJ |

I seem to have the opposite problem. When I am sent a Small Packet item from the UK, I receive it in an average of one week. However, items shipped UPS, for example, have taken a couple of months and have frequently attracted fictional amounts of duty. I believe UPS has its own customs clearance house who employ assessors who don't necessarily speak English as their first language. |
