MG TD TF 1500 - rubber sealer round front body support
I was installing some sound proofing and came across this rubber 'sealer' around the inside front body support. I have one on the passagner side and it is placed on top of the floor board. Seems to me it sould have been underneath it ? There isn't one on the driver side... Any idea? Believe it or not I think this is the first thing I could not find a photo of on Dave Braun's site! Dave, I'm just finishing my '55 TF and yes, there should be a rubber sealer on both sides and yes again, it should be under the floor. Sincerely, Dave B. |

Dave, I would highly recommend that you thoroughly paint your floorboards with a good enamel to seal them against moisture. The originals were painted but not very well sealed resulting in evenutal rotting.

the bottom has a layer of varnish (PO) and smooth rubberised underseal(Me). I just coated the inside with wood preserver. Need to let it dry for a couple of days before it will take paint :) Dave |

When I replace the floorboards, I coat them with a Minwax stain. I think it is called ebony, it is black and a custom mix. I follow up with three coats of water based satan urethane. It looks just like a satin paint, but offers much better protection. -David |
