MG TD TF 1500 - Safety Tip
When recently working on my TD carbs I noted that the starter switch is a mere 4 inches away from the rear carb float bowl. While twiddling your wrench around in this area it might be easy to short it against the stud on the live side of the starter switch with resulting large sparking quite near a possibly open carb float bowl. Make sure you have the little protective boots on the switch terminal so that no live part is exposed. Or, remember to disconnect the battery when working in this area. |

Disconnect the battery always a good idea! IMHO: fire extinguisher a must. |

I, like Dave always disconnect the battery anytime I work on my car. Fire extinguisher is a must. Cant tell you how many times I have sparked something before I got smart and took the battery out of the circuits... |
