MG TD TF 1500 - Screw size
Can anyone tell me the thread size of the screw that holds the knob on the TF windscreen wiper shaft, I have tried several with out much luck. could it be 7BA? |

Thomas - It could well be a BA size screw, but not only is 7BA a bit of an oddity, it is going to be exceedingly small. The BA screws normally found in the T series cars are mostly 2BA and 4BA (with a 5 BA used to hold the upper points in a SU fuel pump in place). Cheers - Dave |

it is a 2BA set screw on most. I just tried out two knobs, one worked with the 2BA, the other it did not fit???. |

Pretty sure mine are 2BA ...been a while since I have had them off! |

Hi Thomas, Saw your query late and have just been out to garage to check - definately 4BA, anything bigger would weaken shaft! These are still available from some car factors, you may need to shorten and clean up cut end with a fine file, having screwed on nut before hand to unscrew and clean thread up. Cheer, John |
