MG TD TF 1500 - Seat Shims
I have been meaning to tip my seats back slightly for a bit more comfort. I came up with dimensions for shims that seem to fit well and don't lean heavily on the shelf just behind the seat. See attached.

Hi Peter. You got me thinkin'. So, in the full-rearward position, the seats just touch the sidecurtain box, right? Did you think about going up more than the .12" so that the seat could go back a bit more? And, if you don't mind me asking... how tall are you? (Seems like I am always looking for ways to enhance a pretty wonderful original design.) Safety? Fast? Scott Ashworth - mgtf - 6'2" |

Scott I'm an even 6 feet. This elevation change for me is pretty comfortable. The 0.12 kind of keeps the rear of the seat sitting evenly on the shim. Also my foam cushion is pretty worn out/wimpy. While having the seat out I added cubes of foam into the square recesses just to beef up the flimsyness. |

Thanks, Peter. I already have the seats out to do some work under the dash. (I'm thinking of connecting the seats with wing-nuts since I take them out so often!) I will be using your sketch to make some shims and the cubes of foam are a good idea. Thanks for the post. Safety? Fast? Scott Ashworth |

Being basically very lazy, I just ripped a ceder shingle down to fit under the seat rails on my TF. |
