MG TD TF 1500 - Seeking TD3236 California Previous Owners

Late last century (1999), we bought the highly customized, cream colored 1950 TD/3236 which was from California. Id bet a PO or two were located around Los Angeles as it not only had a fiberglass hardtop from the area, the 1250 XPAG was bored out for TF pistons which legend has it that there was a machinist there bold enough to hog them out that far. It also sported bobbed fenders, wire wheels, wide whitewall tires, H4 SUs, round hole head, Air Lift helpers on all 4 wheels, chrome and highly polished aluminum everywhere. The owner clearly took a great deal of pride in it, but, as the story was told, he was driving from CA to the east coast to head out for the Vietnam War and wound up selling it in Pennsylvania to a service station in 1967. It spent the last 27 years in PA under heavy blankets before we resurrected it.
The soldier was likely not the original owner but a youngster that bought it. No telling who upgraded it up. Anyway, Im finally reaching out to previous owners as Im sure, if theyre still around, theyre probably wondering what ever happened to it. Im sure theyd get a kick out of learning it now has a supercharger, roller lifter cam, billet crank, stainless tub as well as various other panels, MGB rear end/front discs/vacuum advance electronic distributor, alternator and blinding HID headlamps among other improvements. If someone loved this one so much, he may have procured another TD and maybe belongs to a club somewhere or reads this BBS.

How about some pictures! PJ

Can't add anything to the history of TD3236 but it's nice to hear another car made on the same day (Sept 11th 1950) as mine still survives !
Best wishes,
Nick (TD3232)

Jim: If you take some pictures I agree with Paul. It might be an interesting car to have on my website.

In 1967 about the only large scale MG T club would be the New England MG T Register. I would start there.

If the car was in SoCal. Several clubs come to mind. California Sports Car Club and Southern California T Registry I believe the CSCC was/is a SCCA affiliate

There were a LOT of sports car clubs in So Cal back then, and some of them still exist. I'll ask around...

This first picture of TD 3236 was taken between 50 and 55 years ago in PA.

Second picture shows the TD and current owner on a day when Yankee Air Force retook the Rosie the Riveter record at the site of Ford's B-24 Willow Run Plant.
