MG TD TF 1500 - SFT 576 Fog Lamp Mounting Studs?
Does anyone know where I can obtain a set of hollow mounting studs for a pair of SFT 576 Lucas fog lamps. After much work cleaning and re-threading the ones that came with a set of orginal lamps I purchased....I have found that at some point they had been cut too short to mount on the bar! I have drilled the rivets out to remove old ones....but short of purchasing a set of "aftermarket" lamps ....can't seem to locate these one anywhere! Thanks for your help! DCS |

David, I had a local machine shop run me up a new set. Mine were so rusted that they were unusable. I brought the originals over and 5 days later I had a new set, probably better than the originals. Good luck, Rob |

Hey Rob, By chance do you think that machine shop would still have spec's to do another pair? I gave mine to someone that said they could do the same....now the building is empty phone numbers are no good....the guy has dissapeared off the face of this green planet! If you have any contact information (an order # for yours?) would be most helpful. Thinking maybe I could get them to make 5/10 pairs and offer them to others...got to be more people that could use them! Thanks, David |

Hi, I just had a look at the mounting stud. There should be no problem in making a bunch. It is really nothing more than a piece of partially threaded tube with a slot cut in one end to stop it turning and a flare to stop it from pulling through the light housing. In fact I think I will rush right over to my lathe and see if it is really as easy as I think. Regards, Hugh Pite |

Hi, back again. Absolutely no problem in making these pieces. Change in plan tho'. I made it out of solid round stock since I could see trouble getting the flare correct if I used tubing. E-mail me if you want a set made. Regards, Hugh '48 TC '33 J-2 |

Hi Guys, The idea of using a solid piece of stock instead of a tube is a great idea. Mine were made out of tube stock and have given me no trouble, but if I have to replace,. I will use solid stock this time. Regards, Rob |

Rob, as you no doubt have noticed....nevermind on the "shop-info". Have a pair of these on the way from Hugh! Problem solved! Thankfully I did not need "presidental decession" on this one! Thanks to all! |
