MG TD TF 1500 - Sorry, it's ebay again
http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Solid-Restored-RED-TD-ROASTER_W0QQitemZ4564761763QQcategoryZ31858QQssPageNameZWDVWQQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem Why would anybody spend all that time and energy to restore to such a beautifull state and then krappout on the dash and carpet. Just doesn't make sense. Nice red interior and proper black carpet and proper dash panel and this would be a beautifull car. Greg & Grimm |

When I first bought my TD, I had a brass radiator shell. But then the cost of chroming was out of my budget. At least it is repairable. |

Check out the oil filler "cap" on the MGTD. (ebay # 4564761763). |

hey, you guys are missing it. it says it is a "roaster" in the description. i think this is the sharpest cooking appliance i have ever seen. i can't believe you are picking it apart. tp |
tm peterson |
Ok now you've got me doing it to. Filler looks like a piece of cork. Radiator fan looks like a late MGB plastic and check out the free flow no muffler cus it rusted to nothing exhaust system. No wrap on the wiring, help! somebody stop me. |

Might just be me, but does it take forever to load that darn page? |

How about the 2x6 with the rubber bungee on the battery |
Bruce Cunha |
Look to the petrol pump in the TF.Is it an good alternative to mount the petrol pump in the TF just as in a TD under the bonnet? Not original! |
Ernst Ettema TF7664 |
Greg, Don't appologise the eBay cars are great. You can use the pics as "spot the diference" puzzles - similar to the ones you can buy for children to keep them quiet on long journeys. Cheers Jan T |

That TD must be from WINE COUNTRY with that cork oil cap. How about the overflow pipes aimed for the exhust manifold along with the full length piping below the bonnet side panels. That straight through exhaust will keep your brain cells dormant for an extended time-maybe forever. That 4x2 and bungee strap are well put. That fan blade set must set up a howl but not loud enough to be heard over the exhaust.. However he does have a good camera. Do you think he should sell it and finish the car? Sandy |

The Red TD looks to be a 1953 and not a 1952. It has round tail lights and the hi-beam indicator warning light is located in the speedometer face. John |

Does anyone recognize what seems to be a sheet metal attachment to the radiator tank? Maybe it is some sort of home made air or water pump grease deflector? Original part? |
Jim Merz |
Jim I looked for the deflector, but could not seem to locate it. While I was looking for the deflector, I noticed that the glove box, screws holding the outer dash and the muffler seem to be missing. Hopefully the engine doesn’t miss, also. John |

Just one more comment about the red TD "Roaster",, the ad says Michelin tires,,, but I read GOODYEAR on the side walls,,,,, |

To Ernst Ettema ----- You asked about the location of the fuel pump in a TF. Yes there were some early ones made with the fuel pump in a similar location to that in a TD. Those were late 1953 and early 1954 cars. I believe they had too much trouble with vapor lock and moved the fuel pump to the location on the frame just in front of the right rear wheel. They still got some vapor lock but with the pump cooler, the car could be started, with some difficulty, and would run.The motion of the car seems to cool things down enough so after a couple minutes it runs OK. Ask me about it, I know!! Bob |

My MGA (back in 1958) used to get vapor lock in hot traffic but I cured it. I wrapped it with the 'funny stuff' my Dad used to wrap our water pipes in the basement to cut down on the condensation. As I remeber it was very flexible alittl sticky and sorta kind ribbed in texture. Well two wraps with that stuff and I never had vapor lock again not even when I was in CA looking for a job (Detroit had a BIG recession in 1958) CA was booming. Greg & Grimm |
