MG TD TF 1500 - Sound Deadning -' quietride'

Anyone got experience with dealing with this firm

http://www.quietride.com/

and their kit MGTD5355-RAK for the mgtf ?

( they do one for the MG TD too)

I saw it referenced in the archive but nobody mentioned having had any actual experience.

Cheers.

Looks interesting Dave. I'd be curious about what someone who's dealt with them has to say also. With everything pre cut and ready to mount, to me it would be worth the price. PJ

Interesting product. Not that bad for the full kit. Wonder how that compares with dynamat?
Bruce Cunha

I installed the whole kit in the TD - doors, floor, firewall - and I'm really happy with the result. The pieces were cut well and went in easily.

Bruce,
looking at the brochure, they state that they use "Dynamat" in their kits.
I plan to buy a kit this spring.

Dave,

What difference did you notice in driving experience? I'd guess that the doors close with a nice thunk rather than the "tong" the close with now. Any road noise seems kind of silly to get rid of in a convertable like this. That said, I still like the idea. Let us know your experience.

Alex - it actually does make a difference in noise - body rumble is significantly less than in my neighbor's TC - and yes, the doors do close more quietly. But I run my TD a lot with the hard top on, and the noise level with the insulation is such that you really can carry on a civilized conversation at 110 kliks with the sidescreens in and the top on. That's nice. It's still not quiet enough to listen to a radio, though.

But I think the biggest difference is keeping engine and trans heat out of the cockpit.

It is a substantial box that it all comes in, and the shipping weight was about 50 pounds, I think. But I'd do it again.

Looks like dynamat for one part of it, bu the intersting thing on this kit is it has two systems.

Looks like a great product.

When I see a company like this I automatically think of how many cars and owners they must of had to contact to take all those photos and measurements. Look at the catalog page, they've got catalogs from Model T's to MG's. They don't just have photos of the cars but the interiors shown in various stages of restoration. Imagine what it took to put together all those catalogs. Amazing!

....pretty amazing catalogue.....

I ordered the other day. Very pleasent people. They gave me the $10 discount and knocked off the price of the spray adhesive ( which I didn't even know was included) since they couldn't ship it over seas.

$100 shipping to Ireland for a big box an earlier customer was 50lbs - not bad.

I will let you know how I fair with the kit when it comes.
