MG TD TF 1500 - Speaking of plug-ins...

Anyone have a list of items that can be plugged into the auxilary power source plugs on the dash.
I have seen the "trouble light" and a little chrome "tea-pot" and a "windshield defroster"...

any others?

Gord,
I have piles of old 50's mags that show all kinds of "12vdc options" of the time.
Many of those list an "avaiable binding post type plug" that you could purchase with the item. Interestinly enough many of the period "12vdc toys" I have from the UK simply came with an old 2 prong 220ac type plug. Sirus Car Kettle being one of those. (I made an adapter for those). Most common were the "work lights" & defrosters. Chris Cooper has quite a few of them on his site.

Hey Gord,
Speaking of item's that can be pluged in.
It's cold, looking for a fun place to surf?
I first found this in an old 50's mag I have...later found it on a web-site. This guy is "The King" of plug-ins / built ins!
As far as I know....Louie still holds the record for non-stop driving coast to coast.
The mag I have shows Louie & a reporter lounging on his "porch" (smoking a pipe & a cigarette)....oh, by the way "the porch" is filled with several hundred gallons of petrol! The drivers seat has a built in "hooka" (next to the bar!) If you've never seen this monster...have a look...shower / ironing board / washing machine / stove and on and on.

About halfway down the page look for:
"Louie Mattar's Fabulous Car"
There are about a dozen pic's there...and a "google search" will find you even more on this one.
Great fun on a cold day! I wonder what the Highway Patrol would have to say about that water-pipe built in to the dash these days!

Louie Mattar was my Great Uncle. Really amazing guy! So much fun to visit. When I was a kid we went to California and he took us to his auto shop to see the car. Did you know it was used in an episode of the television show Mission Impossible?
Cathryn Mattar Merten

Cathryn,
Wow...I came across the car in an old mag I bought for MGTF content. Your great Uncle was way ahead of his time on a lot of things on that old caddy! Many of them, as I'm sure you know, are now pretty much standard equipment on a lot of todays autos....some of them just now begining to be an "option". He had to fun to visit with. Sorry to hear you refer to him in the past tence...I wasn't sure if he was sill with us or not...but in his case, I guess in some ways, he will always be with us in some ways...even those of us that never met him. I did not know about the "Mission Impossible" ...by chance you don't know the name of that one ..I would love to see it. I keep a copy of the mag that featured his car in garage and share it with people often..mechanic types are always amazed by it.
Cheers & Best Regards
