MG TD TF 1500 - Starter Motor

I have just obtained a replacement starter motor for my 1952 TD. On trying to fit it I find that there are 2 screw heads at the bendex end. These are fouling the plate to which the starter is bolted to. I recall hearing of this type of problem before but can't find it on the archives. Is there a fix for this or do I have to locate another unit. The S/M I have just acquired is a Lucas 25238 F 27 80 M35 if this means anything to you.
Thanks

Richard,
Rather than pay the high price for a TD starter, I have been using a much less expensive starter from an MG midget. They look almost exactly like a TD starter, with the exception of the screws that hold it together. The screw heads are as you are experiencing with your starter now. I just filed off some of the head and all is well.

Just re read my post,,, should have said

"should only be one of the screw heads that have to be filed"

The original starter motors had the through screws inserted from the rear plate and were threaded into the plate at the bendix end. That way there were no heads to foul the mounting plate. Dave

I use a midget starter as well on my 54 TF. Virtually identical, works perfectly, no mods to get it to work.

Thanks for all your inputs. I have filed the head of the bottom screw head as Steve suggested and all is fitted ok and now working. So no more use of the starting handle!!
Cheers
