MG TD TF 1500 - Steering column nut

Anyone know the size of the nut on the end of the steering column which holds the steering wheel boss on. I know about the nut on the wheel, that's me...

I need to tighten the nut holding my hub onto the steering column of my TF. This is the only archive entry i could find. Does anyone know the answer? None of my Whitworth sockets fit.

It is most likely a 5/8W (1.107" - 1.113"). A 1 1/8" across the flats will work (what I used - sloppy at 1.125" - 1.132") or a 28mm (1.102" - 1.109"). If you will e-mail me at SUfuelpumps@donobi.net, I'll send you the chart that I have on spanner sizes. Cheers - Dave

Mike, I just fitted a new one from LBC (Moss) and it is 1 1/8 AF. The thread is .75". The actual across flats is 1.124

Thanks, Dave. Email sent. I have an aftermarket Brooklands wheel and hub with a pretty narrow and deep opening, and may need to machine down a sacrificial socket to get it to fit.
