MG TD TF 1500 - Steering Wheel Cover
My car came to me with a 4 spoke Auto-Lite steering wheel. It's about a 15 or 15-1/2" wheel. I would like to cover the rim with a good quality leather cover. On long trips I notice some discomfort in my hands from gripping the wheel tightly. My thinking is that a good cover would provide an easier and more relaxed gripping surface. I've seen some videos on uTube of sewing some on and they look fine. Can anyone recommend a cover or site to locate one? Does anyone have experience with the one from Moss Motors? Thanks, Mort |

MMort, I've bought one from KR Classics, they are on Ebay UK. Or mail directly RRogchaplin at aol.com for detailed information. MIne was GBP 42 + postage. Good quality, excellent service. Jasper |

Mort - Moss has leather steering wheel covers 222-315 I have used them on both our TD and MGB. You should be able to find them at most auto parts stores. Cheers - Dave |

Mort: I purchased my leather wheel cover from Wheelskins, they have all sizes and colors. It is same product that Moss sells, except Moss only has black. I am not part of this company, only sharing an idea. They are in Berkeley, CA, USA info@wheelskins.com Louis |

I have used the Moss leather covers on my two Morris Minors and been very satisfied. Not inexpensive but are really nice when fitted. Be advised it will take the better part of an hour to fit one properly.

Thank you all for the info. Thank you Jasper. I am awaiting my cover from KR Classics. If it turns out well I will post it. If not I will just fade away. Mort |

I have a wheelskins cover on my Moto-Lita wheel to increase the diameter a bit and it is great. I went with a color that is close to biscuit. |

I've used the Wheelskins from Moss on my TC and after many thousands of miles it still looks great. |

Mort, installing the cover is a long, tedious process, but the result is rewarding. The wheel looks better and has a much better feel with the cover. A word of caution, don't lose focus as you proceed. I missed a stitch at one point, and had to undo about 40 degrees of progress to recover!

Corey, which cover is that, please? Bud |
Bud Krueger |
Bud, it is a Wheelskins product. Well made and a very nice fit. I have been unable to find my invoice for this item. I do recall that it was considerably less expensive than Moss's offering. |

Thanks, Corey. Google here I come. Bud |

Beautiful job. You've got talent, Mort. You've taken that thing apart from stem to stern and put it back together in A-1 condition. -David |

Mort, Satisfied with the results? Jasper |

Yes Jasper, I spent the weekend driving around to two different car events and the wheel was much more comfortable to grasp. Mort |
